My daughter brought me here for the first time last night. How did I never eat here before?! The cashier was the best. She enthusiastically explained that yes, my daughter could substitute the black bean patty for any menu item. She was so friendly and nice. The food was amazing - I had a mushroom swiss burger that was to die for. The spicy fries were great - fresh and flavorful without being overwhelming. I don't think that's what they were called, but something like that. I am planning to spend a lot more time here!

This place is amazing!!! The quality of the food for the price is worth the not so great parking. Love that they offer a variety of main course options, and LOVE LOVE LOVE that they do the shoestring potato fries!!!! I want to say thanks to whomever brought the "free burger" coupons into my work place. I wouldn't have tried this place otherwise, and would have been missing out on a totally AWESOME burger experience!!

1st time visit and extremely happy with my lunch! Great burger! The 'regular' fries were good but not special. I should have ordered the 'smash fries but will do next time as they looked great! The food was hot, and the veggies were fresh. Lunch was a 10! On the down side the upholstery / seats needed help. Was surprised that it was so worn out in most all the booths I viewed. This location was clean (8 out of 10) and the employees were friendly and helpful! Would recommend this location for lunch!! Good stuff....

I love how the food comes out quick and hot. I'm never left waiting for too long or without a busser offering service. The restaurant is very clean, and and the employees are friendly. I highly recommend the chicken sandwhich. It's so amazing that I sometimes drive to the Elk Grove store just to satisfy my cravings. I love Smashburger! There's nothing like it.

Pricing is absolutely ridiculous. Especially for what they consider "extras." Which makes sense because they are overstaffed. I ordered a burger that came with avocado. When I opened my burger I found it very disappointing. The avo was so underripe I could snap it in half. Nothing memorable about their food... just that I could have had something from across the street for much less and tasted better.

The menus absolutely amazing there's bound to be something that will satisfy your palate. My favorite is the NorCal burger with sweet potato smash fries! The staff is always super helpful and keep the place spic and span clean. Of all the locations in the Sacramento area this one is my favorite. Hagen daz ice cream shakes!

Went in for a C.Y.O (Create Your Own) burger, because thats the type of creative soul I am, and almost 99% of the time what I go for if theres an option. I asked for grilled onions, pickles, aged cheddar, fresh avocado and some condiments. As a side, I decided for the sweet potato fries, I hardly ever order those. The burger came out with a pleasant crust from the "smash" process, egg bun was soft with a slight toast to it and smelled heavenly. Grilled onions defintely a must and on point, usually, but I deducted a star for there being a bit to much grease or butter used in the grilling process. Kinda made the burger a little difficult to deal with, but it was a great hunk of meat! They have 2 smashburger sizes- Regular and Big(?) My husband and I chose the big, yeah, we like the high life. Lol it was apparently the right size, because my husband was full! And those sweet potato fries? Mm, I think I may never order smashburger signature fries again. That good, yo. We shall be back for another awesome burger from SB. Tends to be a fave of ours we frequent some weekends. Next time, Im going to grab a homemade milkshake, see how that goes.

Great burger joint. Potato and onion fries is the best. Beef patties are juicy not dry. Just wish you have larger buns that fits your large and extra large patties.

Clean, quiet, and usually staffed properly. Used to be great, and the burgers are still good but..... ....who uses anything but Heinz ketchup on a burger and fries? Now smashburger is stocking the tables with their own brand of ketchup. (read, cheaper and full of sugar). Its even cleverly labeled to make you think it's Heinz (see pix). BUT IT ISN'T! Minus three stars for the frequent menu changes and no Heinz Ketchup. BRING BACK THE HEINZ KETCHUP!

This a review on their "Windy Chicago Burger" only!!! I LOVE Smashburger, however, this burger SUCKED! I would NOT recommend this burger at all the "cheese sauce" taste horrible and the Pretzel bun is tough and does not taste like a pretzel.

New to the area, checking out the food. Smash burger is a disappointment. I paid $5.99 for a bean burger with cheese and avocado. There was barely any avocado on a big bean burger that tasted fairly good but the tomatoes weren't ripe and the lettuce was wilted. So I basically paid 5.99 for beans and a bun. Neither of which are nearly that expensive. Smash fries were good.

I have got mixed feelings over this location. I've had some great burgers and I've had some really bad ones also. I do love the Smash fries, and I've never been disappointed with them. The place is a hit and miss with cleanliness but depends on the busyness of the place to be fair. The parking is crappy but its a small strip mall with a few busy places so hard sometimes to get a space. Staff is friendly though its worth a visit.

Very good fries and burger with the blue cheese was great I didn't think I'd have to leave a long review but it was pretty good I mean I guess I'll work on it

Walked up to the restaurant line out the door!! Just left, only one worker on a Sunday afternoon! Ridiculous every time I come to this location it's always the same sad story! The restaurant and bathroom are always dirty seems they can't keep staff here.

Been to this location many time. Service and food was okay each visit. Located next to the ATT Store across from Marie Calendars. Part of the Smash Burger chain. Several visits last year. Upon arriving we were greeted. Food was made to order and arrived in an okay time. Delivered to table for not being busy. Food was seasoned and cooked as such. Smash burger food tends to be hot, greasy, and sauced. Large with drink and fries can leave you full for a while. Location and line is always busy. We came in for dinner. We picked up out meal of burgers with fries and a drink. Burgers came out well cooked, seasoned appropriately, sauced, and just delicious. We left full and was left a ok impression of Smash. Overall decent location. Food was good. Service was not great. Not as friendly as other locations. Nothing stellar. Would come back.

I love Smashburger!!! Great burgers start with great ground beef, and Smash has some of the best! High fat content, so it stays juicy even after its cooked. The options are great, the Truffle Mushroom Swiss burger is amazing! My husband likes their chicken sandwiches as well, but I haven't actually tried them yet. Get the Smashfries, they're well seasoned and delicious! And don't forget the Rootbeer in the frosty mug.

This is between a 2 and 3 star review I could not decide. I ordered the Western style burger big size with fries and a strawberry milkshake. The burger was not bad and tasted good! but now onto the fries. Shoestring with what I believe to have that crispy coating which I despise so much. Now onto the "Watery" strawberry milkshake, i was sitting on the small bench next to, right behind the counter and received my order, put the cup down for a second and when I reached to pick it up some spilled out it was so liquified. I showed the person who made it how watery/liquified by waving the cup gently around. He remade it for me but it seems like it didn't help much, was still not thick as a milkshake should be. Is there an ice cream drought I didn't hear about or something? The shake gets 0 stars and only saving face was the burger, fries didn't make me cry but the price, over $14 for 3 simple items and "small" shake. I will be back here because the burger was great and I will make sure I don't leave with a watery shake!

Yummy burgers! But the best thing I noticed is that they have healthy options for those wanting better choices for their kids. My daughter had the grilled Chicken strips and fries but you can ask for veggie fries ( carrots and green beans) instead. The sweet potato fries are yummy too! They bring the food to your table and bus it afterwards. WAY better than In and Out, Sonic, or Habit burger!

A friend told me about this place a few weeks ago, and I've been eating here at least once a week. The people are nice, and I love the Cucumber + Feta Cheese Burger with fries (the fries seem really fresh). For whatever reason, their burgers dont seem so unhealthy (I'm not a burger person, so to eat here once a week is unusual for me). Highly recommend it.

Stopped in on the way home from a baseball tournament. First time here and it was delish!!!!! Fast and friendly service. I got the avocado club burger, best burger I've had in a very long time. My 9 yr old daughter, not a burger fan, finished her whole burger!!!!! We will be back next we come through town!

The mushroom and swiss burger are amazing. This is my favorite burger joint in the world and will continue to be. Super fast and efficient service and the design of the place works great. Fries and milkshakes are also great, but burgers are where its at.

We love this place! Dine here about 3x a month with our two small children, and sometimes grandma and grandpa. The prices are reasonable and portions decent. The food is served quickly; usually within five minutes of our taking a seat in the dining room. Definitely falls within the fast-casual segment of the dining landscape, but that's not a neg. We don't go in expecting fine dining, but we do expect more than drive thru service standards from the staff. They're not perfect. Sometimes special requests are missed, but they're always quick to make it right.

I think im off the smash burger band wagon. They keep screwing with everything thing. Constantly changing the menu so as soon as you know what you like you can't find it on the menu so frustrating and then the ultimate "F" up they changed the fries. Cone on guy get your shit together and once you do let me know and maybe ill give it another shot but until then I am out.

First time ever! My husband, son, and I each tried different burgers and fries. We loved everything! Be sure to text message as instructed BEFORE you order, then you get free fries. We each did it and then enjoyed sweet potato fries for hubby, seasoned fries for son, and haystack onion rings for me - of course we shared and they were all delicious. We will definitely visit again.

excellent food, excellent service. employees are very friendly and chill. upon telling them I was vegetarian they informed me that I could substitute a black bean patty for any hamburger and also of the "veggie fries" which were delicious (fried carrot and green bean sticks). hubby was also very satisfied with his food. We will be returning to Smashburger again!

A bit above McDonalds and certainly better than Nations. The only set back is limited parking and small dining area which gets crowded with the lunch crunch.... The classic smash burger cant be beat for flavor. The smash chicken has bookoo options for toppings for the meat hater... Shame on you cow meat boycotters.

Awesome customer service. Especially from Hailey, and Alex. Came in on a Monday around lunch, and there was no wait! My mom tried a chicken sandwich, that just wasn't for her, and they were able to replace it with something that she liked instead. Some places complain, and they had no problem! I will be returning!

I came here for lunch on a Thursday. Place was busy but the line moved swiftly. I ordered the classic cobb salad with crispy chicken and a side of smash fries. The price was very reasonable, right around my $10 lunch budget. My food came out fast. It was really fresh, eye pleasing, and super delicious. The employees were busy but super helpful. I would definitely recommend this location and may make it a regular spot.

I'm a big fan of Smashburger. I love the California Chicken Club with grilled chicken. Delicious! I like the regular Smashburger as well. It runs on the greasy side, so if that isn't your thing this might not be the best burger for you. The buns are nice and chewy and the fries are good too.

Sad to say that Smashburger has fallen in our esteem a bit. We came here last weekend for a late lunch and the place was fairly empty. As we were walking up I asked my almost four year old son if he wanted chicken strips or grilled cheese for lunch. He emphatically stated that he wanted grilled cheese. We had just eaten here in June and they had the kids grilled cheese then. I looked over on the board and the only kids meal options listed were a burger, hot dog or chicken strips. Of the three my kids will only eat chicken strips. So, I walk up to the cashier and ask if they still have the kids grilled cheese. Without any apology whatsoever or any attempt at being friendly she just said "No". Then she looks down at my preschool age son, who was playing with a plastic table cloth they had on the counter for some sort of decoration (I wasn't paying that close attention to what it was advertising) and she snaps "DON'T TOUCH THAT!" I was done. I was thinking about trying to ask my son if he would like chicken strips before she did that, but then I looked at my husband and said "Let's go to Habit Burger, they have grilled cheese!" As we were walking out, she half heartedly said "Sorry about that". The only reason they continue to get two stars is because I do really like the NorCal burger and the veggie frites. I liked that I sort of felt like I was getting french fries but it was actually veggies. Although, truth be told the last time I ordered them they were just green beans and carrots, whereas they used to have asparagus too. So, maybe it was time to move on anyway.

Don't go here! My office ordered food from here last week & I got sick within minutes of eating. I went there yesterday just for some fries thinking maybe it wasn't their food last time, and there was a lady who worked there who was sitting in the dining area eating, I assumed on break. Well when my order was up, she got up from eating & served me my to go bag including the condiments that went into the bag. THAT IS DISGUSTING! I WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN. I don't now who told her it's okay to eat food, lick your fingers, wipe your mouth & then go SERVE food without washing your hands. I'm also notifying the health dept. But that is just GROSS! AND THE FOOD MADE ME SICK AGAIN!!!!! MAYBE IF YOU STOPPED LETTING YOUR EMPLOYEES EAT & THEN SERVE FOOD PEOPLE WOULDN'T GET SICK

Rosemary fries all day. Burger was alright. I ordered their Norcal burger. Would've liked it a lot more without the offputting balsamic vinegar dressed tomatoes.

I can't find a better burger than the ones that these guys make. I've been to highly rated burger joints in San Francisco and Sacramento and Las Vegas and still, Smashburger has the better burger. You can eat these burgers plain without a bun or toppings and it's like having a steak almost! So flavorful, compared to everyone else's dry, tastless patties. (ie Five Guys, Habit, Fuddruckers, Nations, In N Out). MY Favorite burger here is a regular burger, american cheese, chipotle sauce, red onion and extra pickles and jalapenos. I find it hilarious that some of the people on the reviews here complain about the price. It's not 1999 anymore folks! The fact that people are complaining about a $5 burger just blows me away.

    (5)
  • Jeff D.

Not a bad place to eat. Meat is fresh and the buns they use are good. Why do you salt the meat? Let people actually taste what they are eating. Place seems expensive for what you get as the meat is tiny and all the lettuce bun and cheap crap to is huge. After all its called a hamburger for a reason it should be mainly meat!

My mom and sister popped my cherry on this place and let me tell you: I find myself Instagram searching pictures of Smash Burger when I'm hungry, its bomb! Their fries are fresh and I love the simple salt and pepper seasoning. Their burgers are to die for! I just can't wait to go here when I recover from my dental surgery! (:

I like Smashburger because they are different then other burger places around. Food- 5/5. They have a Black Bean Burger! I repeat, they have a Black Bean Burger! And it is amazing! They make it in house by smashing whole black beans, adding spices and shaping it into a patty. Thank God, finally something different than a boring old Gardenburger patty! I love getting it with the Spicy Chipotle Bun and adding lettuce, avocado and their smash sauce. Yummy! My Husband loves their Spicy Baja Burger (with meat) because its nice and spicy but with great flavor! He always gets a side of Dill Pickle Chips and I get a side of Smash Fries. They are both excellent! And so are their shakes because they are nice and thick and made with real ice cream! Atmosphere- 5/5. Always nice and clean and every seat is a nice comfy booth! Nice and updated inside, with a clean patio outside. Service- 5/5. The cashier is always friendly and patient, and they bring the food to your table. Someone always comes by at least once or twice to make sure you are doing ok and that everything is tasting great. Vegetarian Friendliness- 5/5. You can put the Black Bean Burger on everything so everything can be made vegetarian! Yay! And it tastes great! Overall- 5/5. My Husband and I love going here, it is always something we can agree on and a pleasant experience every time! Prices aren't that bad either. The only complaint I have is that they don't have "to-go" containers readily available to just grab, you have to ask an employee to grab one for you, but I guess that's pretty standard.

    (5)
  • AlICE J.

It was ok. I was kina diggin the fried pickles and I couldn't find a straw and asked for one and the cashier almost bit my head off. The burger was just ok. I was just a little surprised at the cost. It was a BURGER!!! I might sneek in for fried pickles, but the customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

1/3 Swiss burger, smash fries and a drink. $10,a little overpriced and the only reason why no five starts. Service is excellent and both times I've been in there the staff has been compulsive about keeping the place clean. The smash fries are fantastic, don't even waste your time with the regular french fries.I believe it's rosemary and olive oil that they put on the fries that makes them delicious. I opted for a 1/3 swiss burger this time and was much more impressed compared to the regular smash burger,it was cooked almost perfect and piping hot. If you are in the area you can't go wrong with either smash burger or the habit. It's great to have options.

Not worth the money. I received a 2 for 1 coupon shortly after this place opened and that was my 1st and last visit. The 2 for the price of 1 was even a rip off. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Full discloser - they are a client; however, given that I tried their burger for the very first time this week, I wanted to share my honest opinion... I am not a burger lover, yet the NorCal burger won me over at Brie... Brie cheese that is. It really is delicious! The burger was juicy, they marinate their tomatoes in balsamic and top it with applewood smoked bacon, grilled onion and lettuce and put it on a toasted sourdough bun. I haven't tried any of the other burgers yet, but I'd go back for this one time and time again.

  • Leah Q.

I'm not a burger fan, but their black bean burger was the best I've ever had. I ordered it with all the Spicy Baja trimmings, and it was amazing. Too many places put way too much Chipotle in their food, but in the bun and sauce it was mild and very good. The fries were also amazing in that the rosemary wasn't heavy. All the flavors were perfectly balanced - my husband had the Norcal Burger and he agreed. This is definitely our go-to burger place from now on.

    (5)
  • Angelique H.

Absolutely love this place. I love that you can build your own burger or chicken sandwich. You place your order and have your food within 5 to 7 minutes. Everything is always delicious. Try the Nutterbutter shake. My Hubby and I have eaten at the Habit and Fuddruckers, which are both right across the street. They're no competition. We even ventured out to Five Guys; they don't compare either.

I went thinking it would be super tasty. It was just ok, could've gotten this burger at Red Robin or anywhere. Fries were good, I still think the sweet potato fries at Elephant Bar are better than Smashburgers though. Staff was extremely friendly, service was great. I know to some its not fair to compare but if I'm going to eat the calories, I would definitely go to Squeeze Inn over this place.

I have to admit I was a little disappointed. It's wasn't bad, no way, but it wasn't "blow me out of the water" good either. My husband, mother in law, and several friends were all raving about them so I gave it a try. Maybe it was just what I had, not sure, but it was just ok....especially for over 33 bucks for just 3 people to have a burger and fries (and only 2 of 3 had drinks, I had water)! I had the Norcal burger with the brie. The bun was good (even though I normally eat only a few bites of any sort of hamburger bun), but the brie was not what I was expecting. Guess it's just me, but I normally remove the outer skin of the brie before eating it, but it had it on this time (and a lot of it) so that was sort of a turn off. I picked off the bacon and gave to my husband who loved it, but it just wasn't for me. The balsamic tomatoes on it where really good though (better than the meat in my opinion). I got the veggie fries which only the green beans were good. The carrots in it were ok, but the aspearagus was so stringy so it made eating it a pain. I tried some of the smash fries and the rosemary gave it a good flavor, but it was different than what I was expecting. In the end, I was full and satisfied, but not impressed. Overall, I might return if I'm with a group that really wants to go (would try something different for sure), but if it's my choice, I'll probably pass..... And almost for got, if you're preggo, don't bother sitting in the booths. Talk about about up close and personal with the table. Don't get me wrong, it helped from getting the food all over your lap, but I could just imagine being 5-6+ months preggo and not fitting, lol.

Smashburger was on the show Unwrapped on tv today and I thought, that sounds really good, I wonder if there is one around here. Much to my surprise, my aunt informed me there is one! So into the car we go, my aunt, uncle, and I. When we arrived there were not that many people there. It was probably around 12-12:30. We took a few minutes to decide on what burgers to get. I opted for the 1/4lb Smashburg and my aunt and I shared the Smashfrieds (fries with Olive Oil and Rosemary). The 1/4lb burger is $3.99 and the fries were 1.99 if you got a burger. I didn't order a drink, just got a water cup. The burger came out and it's served open face so you can see everything and put mustard, etc on it. The lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and pickles were very fresh. Looks like they slice their own onions as I saw bags of them in the back kitchen area. The meat was thicker than I thought for 1/4lb. I like my meat patties to be super thin though. The burger was really hot, which I also like! The meat was tasty and fresh as well. Overall one of the better burgers I've had, even better than most restaurants and In-N-Out. The bun was really fresh and tasty too! The fries were not bad. I liked that they were different. Next time I want to try the fried pickles as a side and a Häagen-Dazs milkshake as well. I think I could actually share a burger if I got a milkshake. After we ordered and sat down a ton of people came. We just missed the rush, luckily! The food came out pretty quickly. Our table was next to the back doors to the kitchen area and the place where the orders come up and it didn't bother me. I also thought the place was clean and the workers were friendly. I'll definitely go back for a burger and would pick this place over most.

First and last time here. Service stinks. Cashier not very friendly at all. Tall brunette was as happy as a pet rock. Blond waitress was to busy texting to pay attention to anyone in the store. Never knew the chicken on a sandwich could be so thin. If i wanted Italian fries I would go to Olive Garden. All this for a $30 bill for me and the wife and our three year old. It was to go and we did not get drinks. HABIT Burger is far better and the people are nice and actually seem like they want to be there. NEVER AGAIN. I give this location no more than a year in this economy. There was nobody in the place at 12:30 and I bet Habit had a line.

    (1)
  • Amber A.

The best burger I've had in a long time! The first time I got the 1/4 lb, which was pretty small. The second time I got the 1/2 lb. which was perfect. I have the mushroom swiss which is yummy, but my husband has the one with bacon, and thats just as good. Their sides are on the small side, but tasty nonetheless. This is an upscale burger joint, so expect upscale prices. If you want McDonalds prices, you get a McDonalds quality burger!

  • Mindy M.

Five stars if it were so fregin packed the the service was a little friendlier. But since it wasn't 4 because of food. Who knew you could put fried pickles or brie cheese on your burger. It took me two days reviewing the menu my roommate brought home before I could finally decide. Small menu, but since you can customize, there ends up being so much selection. However, the place was so crowded, I don't think it's worth fighting the cattle cart to try to get a burger when I can get one at numerous other places within a block or two radius. Good burger, good concept, but not sure the location is gonna give them long term potential. Maybe in a couple of months when the large crowds and "new" wears off, I'll give them another try.

The food was enjoyable, we went there the day after it opened to the public, there was no wait, which was a plus. The California Burger was good, although had a lot of sauces, as did the All American .... they might be going for the Carl's Jr "if it doesn't get all over the place it doesn't belong in your face" philosophy. The sweet potato fries were by far the best in the Sacramento region, even better than the Counter in Roseville, although they do not come with any type of dipping sauce (besides ketchup and mustard on the table), I head other people requesting a "smash sauce" but that wasn't offered to us when we ordered or when our food was brought to our table. Overall a good experience, better than typical fast food and I am sure I will be there again if I am in the area and need food.

  • Sarah K.

For the price we paid, we could have gone to Habit Burger (right across the street) and had a far superior burger. My husband and I both found the meat under-seasoned and the buns to be rather mushy. Neither of us understand the choice of American cheese as the standard choice for the Smashburger. The fries were the one good thing about our meal; I ordered the fries with olive oil and rosemary and was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked the combination. However, they didn't have the sweet potato fries that everyone talks about. And they were completely out of ice. And the guy taking my order was so busy "helpfully" repeating everything I said that I had to say my order three times before he got it right. We'll be going back to the Habit, which we had no complaints about in the first place.

Good burger. Loved the Norcal burger with the brie cheese and bacon. Also try the fried pickles and veggie frites. All very good. And the price is right also.

  • Mike B.

As a new experience to me I had to try the standard smashburger, minus onions & pickles. What I got was meat, cheese and a bun. Upon taking a bite the flavor was very good but the burger was dripping way too much to ignore, especially since it was missing the lettuce, tomatoes and smash sauce. I couldn't resist putting my finger on the drops and sure enough, it was greasy which probably explains the robust flavor. The bun was very good and is a critical component to the overall taste. I was somewhat disappointed with the size and strongly recommend anyone order one size bigger that you normally would or you'll likely be disappointed. I'll go back I'm sure but neither Fuddruckers or Habit will get put out of business.

Wow. Horrible service. Prices were higher than posted, and clerk argued that they hadn't changed their sign yet. Bought a milkshake and it was forgotten:( and the 7.00 chicken sandwich was poorly seasoned and had less chicken than a mcnugget... poor dining experience, Never Again

The short: Another great burger option with the bonus of actually having good fries versus Five In n Out Guys. The long: I had tried to grab a burger at another Smash location and there were some issues so I left and went about my day. En route to my next stop I came across this location so I stopped in to get that craving filled. I was immediately greeted when I got in and took a minute to make a decision what I wanted. Placed my order and went to find a seat. Now it was not too long after opening hours so the place should have been fairly close to spotless, but everything just seemed kind of greasy. I don't know if they used dirty rags to smear it everywhere while cleaning or they just suck at cleaning. My food came out pretty quick and it was warm as one would expect. I had ordered the BBQ bacon and cheddar burger with some smash fries which I had had before. This time there was a little difference though. First of all my bun was not toasted so it had soaked up the grease and bbq sauce making it mush. The bacon was limp and not crisp along with the cheese not being melted. I was starving so didn't make a deal out of it and just made a mental note. Before I left I placed an order for a shake which was great since it was a really hot day. All in all the place needs a cleaning and the kitchen staff needs some training, but I would come back and give them a second chance at this particular location. What works: Fresh burgers with interesting topping options, good fries, and great shakes What to improve: Need to get on top of cleaning a bit. Some consistency issues from the kitchen too.

Good food. My family likes this place. The only suggestion I have is that the black bean patty be prepared on a separate grill. Vegetarians like me don't like finding chunks of meat in their bean patties. Great fries, my family loves them!

I'm new in the area, my fiancé kept telling me how amazing smashburger was & how much I needed to try it. I gave it a shot one evening we ordered it to-go. When we arrived home I was extremely disappointed! The bun of my burger was really soggy, and the patty wasn't flavorful at all. Instead of this being amazing burger it was the complete opposite :( I don't think I'll go again..

Smash burger had a groupon out a few months back which introduced me this specific location. Groupon first introduced me to Smashburger and it was amazingggg! The service was superb! They asked my girlfriend and i if we have been here before and i said this is our first time. the lady welcomed us to smashburger talked about the different types of burgers which we appreciated. They brought the food to our table. Luckily, we went there before dinner rush and as we were leaving a long line formed. We had the spicy baja burger with smash sweet potato fries. OMG it was on point! It is what a burger should be. The fries were pretty good too! Before this I loved in and out, however This experience made me a smashburger believer! *funny thing, i think they used the same font as the GameStop logo! Lol

Fresh, healthy, fun creations... What's not to like??? GREAT menu, big portions, amazing Smashfries. This place is my absolute TOP go-to burger joint. Sweet selection of fountain drinks, too! Can't wait to see them in more locations!!!

Don't forget to check in BEFORE you order for your free fries, I have forgotten only once now whenever I go here I make sure I check that this offer is still going. I like that at this location they are super friendly and helpful. You get a whole different feel here at this location. I get the black bean burger whenever I go and its pretty good, I with the patty could be a little firmer but overall a great alternative for the vegetarians out there. The side dish options are good too if you like something different that plain french fries. With their check in offer you get a free order of fries with you order anyway but they do have other options that will satisfy everyones cravings. If you have room (I never have, but my son and hubby have) for a shake they have some great ones as well. I always manage to come in here when it is slow and I like it very much, they really take care of you and they even have some nice outside seating on a nice day. Come check them out.

Yesterday, I had the truffle mushroom swiss burger and rosemary fries. Both were good and there was no need for me to add ketchup or any other condiments to the burger to make it taste better. The fries were crisp and not soggy or too greasy. The only negative thing I would comment on is how smashed down my burger looked. The service was good, waiting time was short, and restaurant was clean. I enjoyed the experience and will return. This was my first time trying Smashburger but I opted not to get a drink because I wanted to try a Dutch Bros coffee drink for the first time as well.

If you like burgers then look no further! This place has some of the best burgers in town. Very juicy, tons of flavor, and always a friendly staff. The shakes are good too. I only give four stars instead of five because I had the smash chicken last time I was in and it was not very good. Way too salty.

Went here a few weeks ago and ordered a burger w/ cheese, side of fries and water. The meal was ok - nothing amazing or special for all the hype and price (potatoes are cheap - please give me more than a handful of skinny cut fries). Seating feels a bit cramped and the seats aren't very comfortable. Will I go back? Sure, as long as I'm being treated by someone else.

My new favorite burger joint! We were seated outside in the patio area on a nice, cool evening. It was fairly quick and I was so thrilled when the food arrived at our table. The burgers are 100% Angus beef, those juicy beef patties are extraordinary and so darn good. They have veggie burgers, kids menu, chicken sandwiches and also build your own burgers. I ordered the Baja Burger, most definitely take a zantac before consuming this burger. It was filled with pepper jack cheese, lettuce, onions, guacamole, spicy chipotle mayo and jalapeños on a spicy chipotle bun. Muy Caliente! I had heartburn for days. Absolutely worth it! This Baja burger definitely fulfilled my spicy burger craving. My husband and father-in-law ordered the Classic burger and Mushroom swiss burger, they both said the burgers were really good. My son ordered a cheeseburger and they made him chocolate milk. We were surrounded by at least 4 other burger joints the next block over but this one smashes them all! The smashfries were yummy, tossed in rosemary, olive oil and garlic and we also ordered the haystack onions (in lieu of their onion rings) which were good but I would've ordered onion rings if they had it on their menu. I came back a 2nd time with my friend Mymy N. and we both ordered the Norcal Burger, it came with bacon and brie cheese. It was good but I could barely taste any brie cheese. I will stick with the baja burger the next time I want a burger (zantac included)! Didn't get to try the haagen dazs shake yet (didn't know that it existed). I never have room for the shakes but you can always get it to-go!

A really wonderful burger joint... This is the burger-intersection of the Heights... Nations and Habit are all within a stone's-throw. We usually bounce around between Smashburger and The Habit. In comparison, this joint has a large menu with several chicken options and also a variety of sides. The sweet potato fries + seasonings (rosemary, garlic) are fantastic! I really prefer the classic burger which comes on a delicious egg-type bug, which is slightly sweet. My significant other prefers the milkshakes here to any other place, I think they're "good". Service is always fast and friendly, they do drop off your meal, and check on you to make sure everything is what you wanted. Quick to clean up messy tables too, they're pretty efficient here when it's busy. Recommend! -Also the portions seem to be just the right size for me.. I can finish a burger and fries without feeling like a whale!

Consistently good food my wife religiously orders the black bean burger, I mix it up between that, chicken, or beef they are all good, seating can sometimes be a pain and sometimes their service is very slow to clear tables, other than that it's all good. Love the free smash fries with check in!

I came in one afternoon after craving a burger. I haven't ever been to smash burger before so I figured I'd give it a try. The lady at the register was super friendly. I love that. I can't remember her name. And I have no description of her that would help besides Caucasian lady with short brown hair. Anyway, we got two burgers and some onion strings. Oh , and two shakes. The burgers weren't all that. Greasy and not too much flavor. Same with the onion strings. Super greasy. The shake was DELISH. I wouldn't go back unless I had a coupon!

Our choice burger place for sure! If I want a burger I won't even consider going anywhere else around here. My orders have always come out great and the quality is as expected given the pricing. The customer service we've received here has always been excellent ( some of the employees are a bit quirky, which I honestly enjoy since it is in an interesting and not rude or uncomfortable way). I love the create your own burger choice, as I am a particular eater, and that there's no problem customizing one of their menu options either.

Not a fan.. I'm here currently, waiting for my food. The line was about a 10 minute wait, super annoying at 9pm.. There was only one cashier and there was about 5 people in front of me. The seating area was not crowded though. I ordered a veggie burger, fries (which I got for free with my yelp check in) a shake, and a soda. Pretty simple. I asked about the veggie burger and she told me I had two options, one being the black bean and avocado veggie burger, and then couldn't remember the other option and told me that was the only one. It was very confusing and I am usually very forgiving when it comes to that stuff since I work in the customer service field, but she just looked confused. They had one runner, and he was SUPER slow and took his time taking the food to customers. Their ice machine ran out of ice and he told a customer it would be a bit before he would refill it. He also looked very unprofessional. His shirt didn't cover his midriff, and he stopped to joke with customers far too often. Nothing seemed to happen in a hurry. By all means, I don't wish for them to cut corners, but it seemed like they just didn't care. Also, I just got my shake and it is half the size of the dine-in portion. Over all, I'm just not impressed. I'll take Habit Burger over this ANY DAY.

Small burger patty, tasted like old meat (not fresh like they claim) and WAAAY over priced. $21 bux for two reg burgers two fries and one drink. Will not return. If you want this quality go to McDonald's. Habit is a million times better and less expensive and right across the street. Go there.

The veggie burger at Smash is the god among burgers! Made from ground black beans, it looks like a mashed up pile of black and grey shiz, but this little honey is fucking burger ambrosia. I order it thusly: veggie burger with smash sauce, grilled onions, pepper jack cheese and pickles all on a whole wheat bun. The smash sauce is a mustard-y sauce but not as tart as mustard. Definitely try the rosemary fries! Very herby and even after cramming a burger down your throat you're going to want a second order of fries. Everything is fully customizable, select from a multitude of options. Don't waste another second, go and enjoy the hell out of this place!

Smashburger is yum yum in the tum tum. I go to lunch with a couple of friends occasionally, and today this was the lunch spot of choice. At first I wasn't sure what I was going to find on the menu because I will admit that I'm not much of a burger person. Usually when I do order one all I will have on it is the meat, lettuce, cheese and ketchup. However, I was pleased to see that Smash also offers hot dogs and chicken sandwiches. I decided to go with the Classic Dog with ketchup and a side of Smashfries. Actually, I was torn between ordering just regular French Fries or the Smashfries, but once I heard my friends raving about how good the Smashfries are, I made up my mind. We all sat down in a comfy booth and waited for our food to be delivered. This is a pretty hip little burger joint - my meal was served to me on a metal tray and my fries were served in a separate metal bucket. The Smashfries were delicious - tossed in rosemary, olive oil, garlic and other spices. Yum! My hot dog was perfectly cooked and served in a delicious bun. It was warm as if it had just been taken out of the oven and it wasn't too bready or crispy. The portions were great and the fries were just the right amount for one person. Overall, a great lunch. I wouldn't hesitate to come back here again.

We wanted to try Smashburger since we saw all the great reviews this place had gotten. The boyfriend and I sauntered in, not expecting much from a fast food joint. I got the mushroom and swiss burger, and the boyfriend ordered the Nor Cal. We fell in love with our burgers instantly, after they arrived promptly on these funny little wire racks that let all the juice from our burgers fall on the table. The patties were juicy and tasted like actual beef. The mayonaise on the burgers was so good! And I really loved the buns. I liked that they were toasted and were fresh tasting. Just thinking about this burger makes me want another. They were so delicious that the boyfriend and I didn't even talk while eating. So good. Make sure you get the big burger size, because it was the perfect amount!

So last time I came here I had so much toppings on my burger I don't even no what the patty tasted like, and without my yelp review I probably would'nt even remember what I had. So this time I got the classic big smash with bacon. The patty was thick and tasted pretty good, there was one thin slice of lettuce, two little sad looking tomato slices, and real skimpy on the red onions. At about nine bucks just for a burger, I will be trying somewhere else next time I'm on burger row.

Smashburger sits in what I like to call burger alley. Fuddruckers, Smashburger and Habit compete. Who will be the champion of burgers? Smashburger may very well hold that title. I can't stand sweet potatoes, but I hear the sweet potato fries are amazing here. Smashfries as they call them are made with rosemary, olive oil and garlic. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat???? BOMB. I've had the shakes, and they bring out the leftover ice cream if you have it there. Nice move. The burgers are pretty good. The meat is on the small side, but you can order bigger heart attack inducing portions. In fact writing this review makes me want to go there right now. I guess that means I think Smashburger kicks all kinds of ass in the burger alley. Watch out burger slingers, Smashburger is in town.

My husband and I are eating at Smashburger right now. It would be nice if there was consistency from one visit to another! They are slow and every table except two are dirty. The shift manager named Jenny brought our food to us and asked us if we needed anything else. My husband asked for some ranch. She looked at him like he said something wrong then she took her time bringing it to us. As she was walking away from our table, she looked down at my husband and gave him another dirty look. We ordered the BBQ, BACON & CHEDDAR BURGERS and fries to share. The fries were old and flavorless. The burgers barely had any barbeque sauce on them and did not have any cheese on them. The guy that took our order named Trent was very nice though. Another customer just called in to complain about his or her food as well. The customer that ordered right after us seemed very upset with the same rude girl that brought our food to us! May not be returning to this location again!!!!

Alright, so I am a regular customer of this location and it is always great. I will start with general information and then go into things specific to my situations. This location is always clean, both managers are very friendly and polite. Tonight I went in and when a new employee was slow at the register the manager was very patient, playful, and helpful the entire time. Every time I am there all of the employees are helpful and friendly. Simple things like brings my sons extra sauce cups for their ketchup are always welcome. Seeing the managers clean tables and help customers. The food: I have had several different burgers there and have never had a bad meal. The meat always taste fresh and the buns as well. Fries are crispy drinks are cold and they have a couple varieties of iced tea. Now for my tips/hints/etc First go to the costco in Folsom and buy a set of gift cards, yes you have to pay $80 up front but you get $100 worth of gift cards. Signup for their membership thing on their website and get free coupons. Every time you go save your receipt and do the survey, you will be able to bring that receipt in (with code) and get a free side. I regularly combine the free fries receipt with other coupons and then pay with my discounted gift card. Great bargain that way and they always encourage me to keep filling out the surveys. Try some of their sauces with your fries, I love the chipotle sauce and so do both of my boys. If you get a specialty burger you can still add the "free" condiments even if it is not listed in the description. If you have kids I always have them cut the burgers in half for them. My most important tip for those food aficionados: They seem to put the burgers on the bun immediately after cooking and get them out to you within a minute or two, It can be difficult but before biting into your burger let it sit for a few minutes so all of the juices don't run out on your first bite. You will not be disappointed.

I love smashburgers!! If well made they are so yummy. I get the chicken avocado club and it is so damn good. I saw someone mention hers being too salty but I never had that experience so I will definitely keep getting my favorite item on the menu :)

Whenever I tell people how much I love burgers they always respond "You need to try Smashburger"... those people were so right! I finally tried it last week and I was (am) in love. I got the Spicy Baja burger (Pepper jack cheese, guacamole, lettuce, tomato, onion, spicy chipotle mayo and fresh jalapeños on a spicy chipotle bun) WOW! Not only is that an amazing combination of toppings but a spicy chipotle bun mmm! The burger itself was cooked perfectly, which is hard to find; so juicy! I got the burger to go and, after finishing it, I definitely wished that I had gotten two!

I love Smashburger and all of their coupons make it affordable to go a couple times a month. For the most part, Smashburger is Smashburger. It's a chain, so they are pretty uniform. There are only slight differences; however, they have specialty burgers for each region. Back home in Chicago we have the Windy City burger. Here it's the Norcal, which has balsamic tomatoes and brie cheese. It was fun to try, but a little strange for my taste. The BBQ, Bacon & Cheese would be my favorite on this menu. Their chocolate malt is also very delicious and the cinnamon holiday shake is to die for. This particular location seems to only be easily accessible from one direction, but at least we've always found parking and they don't hassle my mother about her service dog. Unfortunately, the service itself could be better. On separate occasions we've had to remind them for sauces we ordered or have an item sent back to be fixed. Good luck trying to get a takeout box if you don't go up to the counter yourself and ask for one.

  • Amy T.

I now understand why this place is called "Smashburger", after just one bite you want the burgers to make love and reproduce more burgers. I had the spciy baja, the norcal, and also the sweet potato smash fries. The burgers were made exactly how a burger should be made. The sweet potato fries had a spin on them that make them taste different from others places in a good way. The service and cleanliness of Smashburger was compltely up to par. I can't wait to come back to try everything else on the menu.

After hearing about Smashburger from friends, I had assumed there would be some actual smashing going on while we were there... you know, like Galligher with the watermelons? Or at least someone with a little hammer... Alas, there was no smashing to be seen or heard, so I was a little bummed from the get-go. But they've got a big menu with some fun options, including sweet potato fries and fried pickles. Also they offer a black bean burger rather than your standard veggie burger, which was very much appreciated. I ordered the black bean burger, spicy baja style (guac and jalapeno peppers), along with some "haystack onions," which were basically very lightly fried onions (basically the onion ring equivalent to shoestring fries). It was all solid, but nothing really wowed me enough to bump them up to that 4th star. They were a little stingy on the guacamole, and the black bean burger didn't hold together too well, making for some messy hands. The haystack onions were a fun change-up, but classic onion rings would have been a little more satisfying (and filling). The real bonus of this place is all their options, which also includes a chicken sandwich menu. It was clean, the staff was friendly, and everything was reasonably priced (the two items with a soda was under $8). Right now Yelp has the average at 3 1/2 stars, and I think that is a fair assessment. I just wasn't wowed enough to round the review up.

I often forget how good this place is. I can't have wheat and they were very accommodating to my needs. They now have better options for kids as well. Everything was good and the place is clean. Staff is friendly too!

FRIED PICKLES! Yes, come and get 'em. They are pretty fantastic and they come with ranch to dip in. So fantastic in fact, that my friend and I discussed during dinner how we could attempt to make these little goodies at home. One day I'll give it a try. Pickle chips come fried here, not the spears. The regular burger with avocado was better than the norcal burger I ordered on my most recent visit. I think the norcal burger is newer to the menu and I believe I had a hankering for it since I was wearing my North Face jacket. It was only right that I order it. On a different note, a guy there asked me if I was a skier. I have never been asked that. But, I said, "why yes I am." And, then we talked a bit about Tahoe. I'm guessing the jacket gave me away. So, on to the burgers. The Norcal one had brie, bacon, lettuce, onions, and tomatoes marinated in balsamic vinegar. It looked and sounded delicious, but it was just ok. I think I ordered the smash burger last time and it was just a traditional burger. I remember it tasting better. But I bet you know what I'll be back for....the pickles. Oh, and they have cherry coke on tap too!!

  • Crystal W.

I read a lot of reviews before stopping by with my friends and boyfriend and so decided to treat myself to the smashfries, sweet potato smashfries, AND a malt, in addition to my Spicy Baja burger. I'm sad to say that each item disappointed me in some way; maybe I was expecting too much from the great reviews here. The customer service was efficient and generally great - because we were all first-timers here, the cashier explained how the restaurant worked, and waited while we mulled around deciding on what we wanted. My friend was so very excited to find that fried pickles were on the menu; unfortunately, they were so salty that she only ate about 3-4 pieces (not that there were that many pieces to begin with anyways). The smashfries, which was highly recommended, was small (as in the small fries size at McDonalds), not seasoned enough for me, and lacked sufficient salt. On the other hand, the sweet potato smashfries were so dry and salty that I couldn't finish the meager serving and, like the potato smashfries, were not nearly seasoned enough for me. The cashier was super nice and explained that I could mix a bunch of flavors for the malt, so I got a Neapolitan, presented in a nice glass cup and metal mixer. The malt was tasty enough in the beginning but not so much towards the end (a mere 15 minutes later), when everything melted rather quickly into liquid. For some reason, the bread in the Baja burger was the nastiest bread I've ever tasted: some strange flavor reminiscent of dried dates.....gross. Because the bread basically held the whole burger together and I took it off after stomaching about a quarter of it, I couldn't enjoy very much of the meat and veggies inside. Overall, although I got a lot a food, I couldn't and didn't eat very much of it. For the price, I'd much rather go to Habit burger, which has better malts, non-dried fries, and consistent burgers that are just as juicy but with bigger portions and cheaper prices. +2 stars for the great service, none for the food.

  • Sarah R.

Absolutely love this place. It's my #1 favorite burger place in the Sacramento area. The reason - the whole package is great! Some places you go have good burgers, but the fries are not so good. Other places the fries are great, but the burgers are only mediocre. Here, you get a great burger and great fries. So far, my favorite burger is the NorCal. Haven't seen anything like it at other places. I love the juicy patty, the seasonings and the toppings. Now the fries are why I keep raving about this place. They are not seasoned with salt, but a mix of rosemary, olive oil and garlic. Plus you can get your basic potato fries or sweet potato, and so far the sweet potato fries are definitely the best. I've recommended this place to all my friends and coworkers. I highly recommend everyone try it out, at least once if the above sounds good to you. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Also, I must say the service is excellent. Everyone is very friendly and they check on you while you're eating and clear away your trays when you're done. I've not had service like this at any of the other newer burger joints like The Habit or Nation's. The only downside is their seating are is not very big and it's not very good for large groups as only a few tables seat more than 4.

So disappointed. Actually, I was more pissed off about it because (1) I already paid for it (2) I was still hungry when I left (3) it was my first visit so I my high hopes were "smashed" and (4) when the best part of the meal was that they offered Coke Zero, but RAN OUT when I went back for a refill...OMG...WTF??!!!!! I ordered the NorCal burger. Description sounded appetizing: brie, grilled onions, bacon, balsamic vinegar marinated tomatoes, on a sourdough bun. Sounds good, right? What came out was a teeny slice of some type of cheese (don't know if it was really brie), a barely grilled (read: practically raw) handful of onions, chewy (read: uncrispy) bacon, and two little slices of unseasoned, unripe tomato (read: marinated in balsamic vinegar my ass!). The patty was bland. Bun didn't taste like sourdough. Ask for the egg bun instead. Sweet potato smash fries came out burnt. Yes, burnt. I was not happy, and I do not recommend wasting your money or stomach space on this place. With The Habit down the street, I can't see this place staying in business. For sure you won't get any more of mine.

I called to place an order for pick up and the girl tells me that they're too busy and can't take call-ins. I get there a few mins later and there are crickets chirping and tumbleweeds. Got a free order of fries for checking in so I threw an extra star in there. This will be my second time trying this joint The first time the burgers were too greasy but I'll try anything twice. Hopefully this is a better experience.

I grew up in the Bay Area my whole life, where there are an abundant amount of good burger joints. When I moved to the Sacramento area, I noticed that people here seem to have a different idea of what good is in comparison to my Bay Area people. I think it must have something to do with the fact that there just aren't that many good food joints out here, so people settle for less. Smash Burger for me tries a little to hard to deliver gourmet food, but falls way short. The portions are tiny and pricey. The burger had too much going on,but none of it came together the right way. A one and done place for me.

Just ate here last night for the first time and had a good experience. I walked in late and the gentlemen at the front counter helped me out tremendously. I needed a veggie burger (which I thought they offered) but he suggested the black bean ranch avo burger, he was honest and said he never had it before. With no other vegetarian options I decided to try it. By the time I edited the entire order I made my own dinner! No onions, no tomatoes or ranch. Add jalapeños and mustard. The cashier didn't get irritated or annoyed like most do when you are changing their menu, he was happy to help and encouraged me to +/- anything I wanted! He offered me some veggie fries too, but I opted out. Another plus my burger was only $5.99! And it was huge! I was full on only the burger. I just wish they had a veggie burger. I mean this place is alllll burgers and if you're going to offer a "veggie menu" I should have more than one option in my opinion. Overall good experience, if I'm ever in the area for a burger I will probably come back here.

The place was okay. Just okay. They promote a gourmet burger but it was lacking. I left still hungry after getting the large burger and fries. The smash fries were tasty but the portion was small. It just lacked the "oomph" to make it great. For a $55.00 dinner for four people I'd expect a little better out of a casual dining establishment. Overall C+ Please get large soda cups too. I know there are free refills but I want to be able to take it to go. One size does not fit all.

I've been here 3-4 times since they opened. I can honestly say that nothing that I've tried was that memorable. It was a typical burger. The fries were decent but nothing to jump at. There are too many burger choices in this area to settle with average.

Smashburger has become my favorite burger joint. Love the spicy baja burger. Best strawberry shake ever. The smash fries sautéed in olive oil and rosemary is the best fries I've ever had. I guess I've listed enough reasons to go there.

Hadn't been to Smashburger in almost two years, and now I remember why- for the $$$, I feel like it's not really worth it. $25 for two burgers, fries, and sodas seems a little steep to me- for that $, feel like I could get a lot more at just about any other local burger joint. Food didn't blow my mind, either...girlfriend like the veggie frites and chicken sandwich alright. Just felt kind of bleh...nothing special.

This place has the best food and the best service. My daughter had a loose tooth that was about to come out. I took her to the restroom so she can rinse her mouth and get it out. The manager happened to come into the restroom while she was freaking out about it and he calmed her down by telling her that when her tooth comes out he would give her a milkshake. This isn't the first time i've gotten great service from this location. hopefully it won't be the last.

Let me start by bringing you up to speed, *customer service* is my number one MOST important thing in regards to EVERYTHING, eating out, shopping for clothes, traveling, etc,! I can go to a place and love, love, love the food, but if the service is bad, I will never, ever, go again. When it comes to this particular place, I absolutely love coming to this SmashBurger, the customer service has been hands down AMAZING every single time. They blow all the burger boulevardiers in that location out of the water (like The Habit- the food was decent but the service was HORR-IBLE, I mean really, I just want to order a burger and not get a side of attitude with it, oh- and Nation's, well, let's just say I felt so oily afterwards, simply, EEW-ICK!). The quality of the food at SmashBurger is off the charts, it literally is so much better now than it ever was before. I think this location has new people working/managing it, and let me tell you it's working in their flavor-favor. This SmashBurger has definitely earned its place in my book of "Must-Go-To-Because-You'll-Never-Be-Disappointed"! Enjoy!

These are some really good burgers. You can choose from choices such as Classic (which is what I got - comes with cheese, pickles, tomato, lettuce, onion and Smashsauce), BBQ Bacon, Nor Cal, Swiss Mushroom, and even some hot dogs as well (Hebrew National-100% beef). Every componant of our burgers were good quality, from the meat to the egg buns and toppings. The Smashfries come seasoned with rosemary and salt - very good as well. Only warning is that there is some serious sodium consumption going on when you eat here. My husband and I were very thirsty later that night. But this was one of the better burgers I have tried in Sacramento.

Shania Twain - you don't impress me much. A couple of friends had craved smashburger for the third time in a week, so I thought "wow, this place must be really good!" well you know what?! IT'S WHACK ! Cons - Got me thinking I'm about to buy a video game with a business sign like that looks like game stop. - WAY TOO OILY. Granted, I had a kid's meal... maybe the oils were more concentrated because of the smaller surface area. Still! - Fries were too salty - Sure, you get the freedom of "building" your own burger.... too bad it comes out to $1/topping and your custom meal turns out to be $12 ! F YOU, taking advantage of the average consumer! Don't blame the economy! You know you get those ingredients from safeway for 1/4 the price! Pros - cute baskets, presentation - manager came up to ask us how the meal was. nice guy. go to Squeeze Inn.

I found this location to be small in size but there is also some outdoor seating available to compensate for that. I ordered the Norcal and smash fries. The burger was amazing in flavor and i thoroughly enjoyed it. My fries were cold but were replaced when requested I'm not a fan of the thin fries but the Rosemary and garlic flavor was yummy. The staff here were friendly and attentive. We did enjoy our visit here and well more than likely return in the future.

I don't get it. When we were driving up to this place, the parking lot was full and most of the seats in the restaurant were occupied. However, after trying the classic burger, some french fries, and their Nutter Butter shake, I left extremely disappointed. The burger was incredibly underwhelming - what tasted like a frozen, unseasoned meat patty was overdone and served on a bun so spongy and soggy that the ketchup leaked through it, and it fell apart after I picked it up the first time. The condiments, while fresh, did nothing to improve the extremely bland flavor of the meat. The generic American cheese (more like Kraft than deli cheese) didn't help, either. The fries were overcooked and not salted. Even when we tried to salt them ourselves, the salt didn't cling to the fries. Nothing special there. The biggest disappointment was the Nutter Butter shake, or should I say the freezer-burned melted vanilla ice cream in a cup mixed with cracker crumbs? Because that's exactly what it tasted like. No peanut butter flavor whatsoever. How this place gets any business is beyond me.

  • Mike H.

I wish I wish I wish the burgers were as good as the service. They're not. They reach for true gourmet status, yet fall short on too-thin patties. The toppings are good, but bite for bite and dollar for dollar I prefer the Habit. Four stars for truly excellent service.

  • Jon S.

I am a big fan of burgers and after reading some of the company history on their website, I decided to see what the hype was all about from the former VP of McDonald's. I got the BBQ, Bacon & Cheese with a side order of SmashFries and a side of SmashSauce (as suggested by Yelpers). The burger was definitely fresh a grilled, not flame broiled and the egg bun really set the burger apart from other burger joints. The SmashFries had a nice classy taste to it with the garlic and rosemary seasoning. The SmashSauce is mayo, sour cream, yellow mustard, and relish which really complimented the SmashFries. THE BOTTOM LINE: I was not impressed, but the food was good. I don't see myself craving Smashburger like I do with The Habit, Five Guys, or In-N-Out. The flavors of the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant was a bit confusing. I felt like I was eating a bistro quality burger with these fancy-ish fries and sauce, but I was sitting in a stainless steel garage.

  • Mindy M.

I'm a bigger fan of their salads than their burgers...don't get me wrong, the burgers are great just a little on the greasy side for me. But still a very tasty burger! Not a fan of meat? They have a black bean burger that is amazing! I'm not sure, but I think it's made fresh and is not a frozen veggie patty and has a little spicy kick to it.

    (4)
  • Bonnie S.

We got their veggie black bean burger and it was a bit less than steller. The patty was WAY too big for the bun and the whole thing was a bit dry and meh overall. I did fall in love with the rosemary fries and the frosty mug for my root beer. Love that they offer Honest Tea as well. I bet their meat burgers are better but I wouldn't know. Probably won't be returning because of the lack luster veggie entree.

I went to this restaurant with coworkers and we were not disappointed. They accepted our coupons and the food was very tasty, brought within 10 minutes. There was a fair line though so I wouldn't recommend going here if you are in a super hurry. However, the food is definitely worth it.

  • Jason K.

Had a 1/2 pounder with brie cheese, lettuce, tomato and a fried egg on top. It was great. The patty was very tasty and moist but not overly greasy. The bun was fresh and didn't get soggy before I finished the burger. I'm glad this place popped up because both of my favorite burger joints went under in the last year and a half. I have a feeling this place and Burgers and Brews will compete for my new favorite.

Smashburger is super-wonderful in theory but totally lacking in execution. Fried pickles, rosemary fries, brie on my burger? Sign me up! But then no, everything is greasy, soggy or just not quite hot enough. However, I have only been to the Sunrise location, so no definitive rejection of the entire franchise just yet.

  • Chelsea C.

I've been here several times now and tried a few different menu items and all in all I'm not impressed. The burgers overall taste is okay, but when your bun is drenched in grease the burger doesn't really matter, ya dig? So yea, maybe a little quality control and it would be a decent chain to stop by when feeling indecisive and not wanting to spend a ton. Better than McDonald's...

Mmmmm. OMG I am not a huuuuge burger fan. I like them fine but its not my favorite cuisine. That said, THIS was the best burger I have EVER had !!! Juicy and HOT and custom made with whatever gourmet topping you choose. One of the signature burgers is the NorCal which was amazing...Brie, bacon, balsamic tomatoes. Mmmmmm. So good ! SMASH fries are also an absolute MUST !!! Great fries with Olive oil, garlic and a smidge of Rosemary. MMMMMM I only hope they get a location even a bit closer to our town. Well, maybe not...I'd be there al the time !!!

  • Lorianne G.

I've been to the Habit, and Nations, and Fudruckers. This is my favorite. Partially because I can get a small burger. Partially because their Smashfries are fabulous. But mostly because I think that a burger should taste good on it's own, and be enhanced by what you put on it, and this is true here. So I come back, because when all I want is a basic cheeseburger, the burger better be good- and here, it is.

    (4)
  • Mike J.

It's a good burger. This was our first visit and the guy taking our order was super nice and walked us through the menu. Wife had a regular Baja burger, I enjoyed a large American burger sans the cheese - with sides of regular fries and deep fried pickles. The place is not that big so we sat outside. Our food arrived in about 5 minutes. Both our burgers were excellent. Nice hand formed patties and the meat was fresh - not frozen - you can tell! Fries were good and the pickles were done just right - crispy on the outside and almost cold on the inside. Price was very reasonable - we Yelp "checked-in" in line and were rewarded with free fries as a bonus! Just go... there are enough positive reviews here to warrant one visit - we took a chance and we'll be back.

This place is my steelo... lol When you arrive to gamestop... wait, I mean Smash burger (this place is infamous for having a logo like gamestop) you'll notice the atmosphere, and it is very "hip" I guess because of the ambiance, mood lighting and everything. But enough with that, its on to the food. First things first, for sure your burger better have apple smoked bacon, and hay-stack onions (maybe some on the side if thats your thing). The taste of these 2 ingredients make your burger so tasteful!!! I haven't had the chicken paddy yet, but I know that the beef paddies are super good. If you're super hungry, you better get yourself a 1/2 pounder. It's so big that it stretches past the buns itself. And if you do that, you might need to fast for the whole day haha. For my recommendation, I would for sure go for the BBQ, bacon and cheese burger. It's got all the things that make me love this place, beef paddy, haystack onions, apple-smoke bacon, and cheese. There are other things on the menu, but you cant mess with perfection. Sooner or later, Ima build my own burger because you can do that. Get some smash fries while you're at it too. Sweet potato smash fries if that's your steelo. These are covered in rosemary and olive oil, giving it a unique flavor. Leading to the reason why I didn't give a 5. This place is good and all, but right away you'll notice the fat amount of grease in everything. When you get to the bottom of smash fries, you're pretty much eating oil and a good amount of oil is covered all over burgers. This wouldnt be the best place to eat day to day, just because of the grease, but other than that, the food is delicious. So if you're feening for a burger and can drive out to citrus heights, go ahead and go to smash. I would prefer this over their neighbors any day, except for another local favorite in sacramento, but then again, I wouldn't put them on the same spectrum. If you're going, you might as well invite me!!

Believe it or not, the cooking of hamburgers has its rules and one of the biggest is "never smash your patty while cooking." We've all done it. The burger is cooking away and you take the spatula and press that meat down so that you hear a wonderful sizzle as the juices are forced out of the meat and onto the pan. The thought is you should keep those yummy juices in the meat. Makes sense. Now you have a chain that says in big bold letters "we are culinary anarchists and we'll smash the meat if we want to!" And it's still a really good burger. Smashburger understands that a good burger is as much as what you put around the meat as it is the meat itself. Great spongy buns that hold up to moisture and the weight of fillings. A wide variety of choices for toppings that extend from the typical lettuce, tomato, onion to the interesting fried eggs and fried pickles. They also do a good job in offering a good selection for the non red meat and the nonmeat folks. 4 selections for vegetarians plus several salads. Several chicken sandwiches. The sides also are great in that you can have fries, sweet potato fries, fried pickles, quickly cooked vegetables, onion rigs, and buckets of beer. Good burger, great sides, and a bucket of beer. Only in America!

6 months since my first review of Smashburger and nine months being a Californian. Their customer service is still outstanding and the food completely Smash-a-licious! I had to try the Oreo mint shake and it was so creamy and lush. Will continue to frequent this spot.

Saturday Morning tradition is the Farmers Market followed by lunch at a new location. This week it was Smashburger and NO REGRETS. I had the Chili Cheese Dog - fresh baked bun - perfectly grilled Angus Beef Hot Dog - tasty Chili - minced onion - melted cheddar- Humongous slices of Jalapeno. Undoubtedly the best hot dog ever. As I waited for my food to go I learned the Spicy Baja Burger is highly recommended.

I had the classic regular burger and enjoyed it. Not so big you need to dislocate your jaw to get a bite in and the flavor and texture were very good. The Smash sauce was to my liking (mustard based) and separated it from the other new burger joints in the area. I'm a sucker for a good secret sauce. The bun, meat and toppings work well together.

Okay folks - Here be burgers, and tasty ones at that. I suggest the noobs (and purists) go for a Classic Smash. It's a good old fashioned cheese burger, smashed as advertised. Looking for a side of adventure? Trade those regular fries for Smashfries - a garlic, olive oil, and rosemary tossed treat that will make your taste buds love you for the rest of your life. Not sure why they're called Smashfries, since they aren't smashed, but then I suppose no gimmick is perfect. Not up for a burger? There are also chicken options, salads, and other things that guys don't order. As for the restaurant itself, the staff is super friendly and the dining area very clean. Oh, and lest I forget... they even serve BEER.

I've been to Smash a few times before and was never disappointed. I'm really big on fresh ingredients on my burger, especially the meat, and this place does a good job in providing freshness. The patties are cooked just right and actually taste like real meat. I also love their fried pickles, some of the best I've ever tasted. The staff is friendly and polite. If you're looking for fresh burgers and a relaxed environment, this is the place to go.

All I can say is "Yummy" This burger has got to be one of the more tastey burgers I've ever tasted.. It was cooked perfectly and tasted even better. Their fries were addicting. The reason I gave it four stars is because the guy who took our order my husband asked for a cup of coffee, now remind you we were the first customers that day. We asked for coffee and he gave us this look like, "oh you want me to make some". I said nicely does this mean you don't want to make it? He shook his head yes and that was the end of that conversation about coffee. The food was cooked and even looked grub in, yet the customer service wasn't even half as good... Next time a customer ask for something you have to make. Don't give them the look of discuss, just make it... If you would have, you'd be getting a five star now.

Even though there's no drive-through, consider it a fast food joint. I ordered a mushroom-swiss burger and it was ready in minutes. The mushrooms were marinated in garlic - yum - which probably explains the dripping factor. There's the usual self-serve soft drink machine, but they also have bottled beer. It's disappointing that fries are extra, but I can live with that. They also offer veg sandwiches, hot dogs and salads, so all ages should find something they'd like.

The last time I got a burger here it was a little on the rare side and I got grossed out. They gave me a free burger so its no big deal, but after that happened I didnt feel like a hamburger so I got the bbq bacon & cheddar as a breaded chicken sandwich instead of burger and it was HELLLLLA good! Its my new favorite!

This is kind of an interesting place, and I would actually probably give it a 3.5 out of 5, but yelp doesn't let you do that so oh well. First off, what I ordered. I got takeout and I ordered I think, a classic burger w/ avocado and grilled onions, and the fried pickles. The service was real friendly, and they cooked everything up pretty fast, like 5 minutes or under I believe. The good: Quite simply, everything was very tasty. The meat was nicely cooked and very flavorful, and the fried pickles were yummy, though I think next time I'd get fries, good though they were, fried pickles just don't cut it as a burger side, in my book. The bad: I ordered avocado as an extra on my burger, and at a buck extra, I was pretty disappointed with how little they gave me. I could barely taste it when eating the burger as a whole, so I won't be asking for avocado again. Also, and other reviewers brought this up as well, the food here is seriously greasy. Like, I'm not kidding, super greasy. All in all, the food was really tasty, and I'll probably go back in the future, but I don't think I'll be eating here all that much, it's just much greasier than I like my burgers to be.

After much buildup from a few friends, my wife and I went to Smashburger last night. Wife had been there before and really loved it. I had the regular size Spicy Baja burger with a side of Haystack Onions. The patty was small... thin and smaller than the bun. The meat seemed to be of pretty good quality... although I am not a fan of burgers that fall apart on the bun. The fixin's seemed fresh and crisp, even the sliced jalapenos. The haystack onions were pretty good, but elevated themselves with the dipping sauce, which was outstanding. Overall, though, I wasn't impressed. Smashburger falls somewhere in line with Jack in the Box and IN-N-Out. When I want a great burger it looks like it's still Flaming Grill.

Smashburger. Their sign design reminds me of GameStop. It's that red, white, and black. Walking in, the menu was posted on a stand as well as the wall and laminated in front of the cashier.. You order with the cashier, pay, get your drink cups (they have a Coke fountain machine) and a number to take to your table. They bring your order to your table.. They have super long booths inside and tables outside in an enclosed patio. Inside, it felt super greasy like they had oil suspended in the air so we sat outside. I had the 1/4 lb. NorCal smashburger (they have 3 burger sizes or a chicken option) with sweet potato smashfries. The NorCal had Brie, bacon, grilled onions, lettuce, and these slices of tomatoes that were balsamic-marinated on a sourdough bun. It was good but it wasn't one of those things that are so good that I already planned on having it again in the same week. I would recommend a bigger burger than the 1/4 that i tried in the NorCal. I didn't want a lot and 1/4 would have suited me fine but in retrospect, a bigger burger would have complimented the bun, etc. better. The smashfries-- either regular or sweet potato.. They're thin and tossed with olive oil, rosemary and garlic. These are good.. It was all together decent.. not so much that we felt like $19 well spent. 2 burgers, 2 fries, and 2 drinks-- $19 something -- we chalked it up to "Now we know."

GreaseTown Ordered a burger that had jalapenos and guacomole and also ordered their fried vegetables (staying healthy!) Big mistake! Everything is greasy!! From the burger to the vegetables, it was just dripping grease. The burger was just bland and all I could taste was grease. The veggie fries that I had weren't even battered and it seemed like they just dipped it in hot oil. They were so kind to give me ranch for oiled veggie fries! Seriously, this place is just bad.

I had gotten off pretty late one night and none of my usual haunts were open for business (curse you Sacramento). Frustrated and hungry for something greasy and warm I spotted SB and immediately pulled to a screeching halt right in front of the restaurant. The whole restaurant has the feel of a small burger joint that has tried to grow into its corporate shell a little too quickly. My concerns over the decor were quickly drowned out by the beast raging within my stomach so I made my way to the cashier (who btw seemed a bit apprehensive at my disturbing what he thought was going to be a quiet night) and ordered something cheesy and bacony along with some deep fried veggies to put my health conscience at ease. It seemed an eternity as I sat at my a table waiting for my food to be brought to me...and then there it was. The burger was dishearteningly smaller than I was expected, and the onion strings were...well...stringy. Thankfully, the waitress remembered to bring me a side of bleu cheese dressing to wash down my already calorie packed meal. Once again, my resolve towards avoiding chains has been renewed.

Oh Smash, such a love/hate relationship we have. I love your flavor combinations and variety, hate the tiny patties and overall value. Either lower your prices, or better yet, increase your portions. The skinny little meat patties are just embarrassing. That said, will I be back? Yes, and kicking myself for it.

I never order bacon on my burgers because it is often a cheap quality, fake hickory flavored, almost-raw-so-it-is-impossible-to-chew-so-you-gag -down-a-huge-bacon-rope, mess. But Smash Burger had a specialty Wedge Salad Burger that we had to try, and it was wonderful. Most importantly, the bacon was perfectly cooked, high quality Apple-wood Smoked bacon. I ordered Smash Fries which I love, and washed them down with a Sierra Nevada Rye beer. Husband had a delish milk shake. It was a perfect summer evening, so we sat outside. A fabulous meal!

After going to the book store, we stopped here for lunch. First time ever. Got the classic burger & fries. The burger had a nice salty crisp feel. Very nice! Just the right size & will definitely go back.My wife said it was almost as good as I make at home. Not quite, but close. Now if they had a barbeque...

Love this place. Excellent quality burgers. Among the best. Their veggie frites are the shiiii ..... Yum. Haystack onions = win. Their chicken sandwhiches are actually what I enjoy most. They are lean and on wheat buns. Pretty healthy for a burger joint. Well done.

SUPER fast, helpful and friendly service from Juaquin!!! Rarely do I look for a staff member's name and when I do - trust me, it's because they were memorable for good or for bad. Juaquin was GREAT!!

The burgers here are REALLY good. The fries are ok. I will definitely be coming back when I am in town again. Great meat quality.

Can you say "YUMMY!" My son and I were out and about and decided to have a burger for dinner . . . We had heard both Nations and Smashburger were very good. We went to Nations to eat and thought the burger was fairly good. We then went to Smashburger to pick up to go for another sibling at home and ordered two (so we could compare burgers). Cut that Smashburger in half and sunk our teeth into it . . . Even 45 minutes later, the Smashburger beat out Nations! The burger bun is fresh and delightful and all the fixings were just right! AND . . . ohhhh the fries . . . Try the sweet potatoe and the regular fries! Best I've ever tasted! FYI: 4:00 to 6:00 is buy one burger, get one free. Unbeatable!!!!!

I was really wanting a burger and there are several places to choose from within a few blocks of this location....I'm glad I chose Smashburger! My 1/3 pound fresh patty was seasoned and cooked perfectly, the sourdough roll was soft and fresh, my lettuce and tomato were fresh as well....a really fine balanced burger at a fair price! Try their fries seasoned with olive oil and rosemary, so good! There is a fine selection on Ice cold beers too! I'll be back for sure.

The best burger I have ever had, hands down! It's not about the condiments here, it's all about the burger patty which is so tasty, so juicy and so flavorful. I'm drooling just thinking about it. I got the Norcal Burger which had brie (YUM!), lettuce, grilled onions and tomatoes with a balsalmic drizzle on it. OMG swear to you it was so delcious. It was so good I didn't even notice that the grilled onions weren't on my burger until someone from the kitchen came out and brought me a plate of grilled onions and apologized for forgetting to put them on. How did they even remember/realize that it was my burger missing the onions?? Such great customer service!! The thick strawberry haagen daz milkshake (yes haagen daz aka the good stuff) was the perfect companion for the perfect burger. Gourmet burgers in a strip mall, but I love it!

I had the pleasure of trying some of the new chicken items and was amazed by the taste. I ordered the BBQ Ranch Chicken Smashburger and loved it! The BBQ sauce was great - not too much, but just the right amount. The chicken was tender and juicy and the haystacks (onion strings) were wonderful. The best part of the meal was the sweet potato fries. Hands down, some of the best I've ever had! They give you this amazing spicy sauce to go with the fries and I fell in love. The staff and service was wonderful and I can't wait to go back and try a salad. Some of the other people in my group ordered the Oreo shake and Nor Cal Smashburger and raved about both. If you're looking for a quick, cheap and great burger joint, then give Smashburger a try!

Smashburger, located out in BFE (aka Citrus Heights) had eluded me until recently when I went out with my ladies lunch club, oddly called Ladies Who Lunch (if you want to join this exclusive club there's a ten page application, and some family members get a huge discount on the dues in order to encourage membership, while other family members have to pay a steep fee in order to discourage it - this means YOU, Aunt Bertha). Anyway, have you ever been to Smashburger? It a big bright clean friendly place. I think their ceilings are 75 feet high. Or something like that. Big ass billboards bedeck the walls. Now, I don' t know about you, but I'm a tomato snob and if your tomatoes are not red, ripe, and flavorful, I am not interested and since 99.999999% of the time, your tomatoes are indeed NOT red, ripe and flavorful, I will not waste either of our precious time asking for them. Luckily, Smashburger's menu is not only diverse, but also flexible. I don't want all the fancy stuff on my cheeseburger. I just want ketchup, mustard, and pickles and that's pretty much it. None of that "special sauce" for me. Of course, bacon is a given on any burger (or sandwich, or pancake breakfast, or ice cream sundae, or shoes), but as this was my first time, I wanted to try a simple cheeseburger. And some fries. I think all burger joints should be judged by their fries. I mean, let's face it, if you met a cool guy who was a great conversationalist and a big hit at parties, would you hang out with him as much if his wife were a shrew? Exactly. Anyway, if the cheese is melted and not burnt, they get extra points, so this burger of mine was a smash hit! (Get it? Smash hit, because...the place is called....oh, never mind) Now, I embrace burger diversity. You can have whatever you want on your burger and I will not judge. Two ladies in our party ordered the Mushroom Swiss Burger, which, gag me with a spoon, but I'm not the one who has to eat it, so they could knock themselves out with that slimy snail-like raw oysterish fungi on their burger. What I will applaud, however, was one of their alternatives to french fries: fried pickles. FYI: fried pickles = awesome. They brought us various dipping sauces for the fried pickles, or the sweet potato fries, I forgot which, but I tried it and yum! Meanwhile, another member of our party tried the Buffalo Smashchicken and thought it delicious. They even have salads and fried asparagus spears and buckets of beer. I just wish they were closer to my home. Instead, because they are in Citrus Heights and Folsom, a couple of the outer-lying villages surrounding Sacramento, I have to pack a rucksack, camping gear and the like, just so I can try a dang burger. I'm now down to one last burger chain to try and that's Sonic Burger. Wherever THEY are. I see the commercials, but I've never run across one in this city. Personally, I think they're made up. Someone is yanking our chain trying to get us excited about a fictitious burger. I'm sure of it. When I finally do locate one, they'd better not have shrews for fries.

Quite possibly one of the best burgers I've had in a while. My buddy and I stopped by for a quick bite to eat while we were on our marketing rounds. We were in and out in 15 minutes, it was perfect. I ordered the BBQ, Bacon, & Cheese burger. The burger was so flavorful! My buddy created his own burger with the chipotle bun and chipotle mayo and some pepperjack cheese and said it was the best burger he'd had in a while. I've also had their Smash Fries (fries rolled in olive oil, rosemary and garlic). To die for! Fairly inexpensive, fast friendly service, and a great clean environment!

Got talked into going here instead of Habit tonight. The mention of nutterbutter shakes in other reviews was the deciding factor! Smashburger is located in close proximity to Habit Burger & Fuddruckers so they have some direct competition. I have eaten at the competition but never here before tonight. I like how the menu is posted outside so you can decide whether or not you want to eat here without going inside. The menu looked appealing & we decided to eat here. We ordered a mushroom swiss & bbq bacon burger. We shared sweet potato fries and regular fries (the fries are $3 but knocked down to $2 if you buy an entree.) We also had the famed nutterbutter shake. The food came out eventually but took over 15 minutes. Our order got screwed up and they brought the incorrect burger out with the wrong fries. It was corrected shortly but then they didn't make the sweet potato fries either, so we waited another over 5 minutes for those. I was not impressed with the portion for the price, in any item we ordered except for the ($4) shake. We each had ordered the smaller size burger ($6 each) but the bbq bacon one that they screwed up ended up being a larger one, I think they gave us someone else's burger. My mushroom swiss was SUPER skimpy on the mushrooms which was particularly disappointing. I liked that the buns were egg, they were nice & soft. The flavor on the burgers was good, the bbq bacon was definitely better. I really wanted more mushrooms on my burger, I should have sent it back after seeing the paltry amount of mushrooms on there..... I was not at all impressed by the fries. Sadly, I accidentally ordered the plain fries instead of the Smashburger fries with rosemary & olive oil that I wanted. My fault. They were remarkably similar in appearance & texture to Mcdonalds fries only not as good. They were a little overdone and hardly salted at all. The sweet potato fries were a little better, once we finally got them. They had some flavor at least but looked kind of unappealing, they were really greasy and also a little overdone. We were asked if we would like our shake brought it to us in two glasses, which we did. We were excited about the shake, but it was just vanilla ice cream blended with nutterbutters and didn't have that strong nutterbutter flavor I was craving. It was good anyway but I feel like they need to blend a little peanut butter in there. Total for our meal was just over $20. That's not too expensive, but I didn't really think it was all that worth it. My review would get an extra star if the prices were better. Also they seemed to need a little help up front since there was only 1 girl taking & delivering food orders. The burgers were tasty but I think Habit is better. Bottom line, I might eat here again but can't really see myself making decision to go here on my own, I would have to be coerced for sure. Perhaps a friend's promise of free food could lure me back here, but I don't intend on spending any more of my own money here.

I was much more impressed before a second burger. I think I'll go to fudruckers next time. I find that there is a reason they tell you to not smash down your pattie when cooking it. The sides are good, and the spicy bun was good but I was unimpressed with the burger.

Okay, so I have to re-review this spot since the manager sent me a message about addressing all my concerns when I first came here. So I came back to see how the improvements turned out (and I needed a burger fix). Firstly, very friendly, attentive service. Not that it was an issue to begin with, but I noticed that the young folks working here wanted to make sure you were happy. Secondly, you can now order Smashfries with the kids meal ($3.99). "So what?" you may ask. Well, these babies are yummy with a hint of rosemary. My daughter was thrilled. She also got the sourdough bun option for no extra charge, you can also get cheese on that too. Wow. I tried the sweet potato fries ($2.99) -- nicely done. Highly recommend. There was enough to go around and they weren't soggy. Also had the create-your-own 1/4 burger ($3.99) with bleu cheese, sourdough bun, grilled onions and all the rest. I'm always happy with that one. Finally, had the dulce de leche shake ($3.99) made with Haagen Dazs (sp?) ice cream. It comes with a cup and the extra bit in a metal container. Superbly hit the spot. But then again, can you really miss up a shake? Still haven't sat outside yet, but will be back to try out the patio arrangement. It was not as noisy and chaotic the first time I came here, floors did not seem as slippery as before. Verdict: this spot scores an extra star from me.

Suppose I should have seen the writing on the wall when a friend of ours told us that they had gotten food poisoning the first time they went, but I thought "Heck, everyone deserves a second chance." Huge disappointment. My boyfriend and I have made a habit of spliting meals as a result of grossly large portion sizes offered these days. Too bad Smashburger doesn't live up to either of my expectations: Grossly large portions and good eats. I don't mind paying $9 for a bbq ranch chicken burger and sweet potato fries at other establishments, but they offered an embracing small portion. The chicken was pounded out into a thin strip and, no joke, did not even fill the bun. My half had a small sliver of chicken and mostly lettuce and bbq sauce. I was surprised the cook actually let it leave the kitchen. Don't waste your money, you can get food equally as disappointing for less elsewhere.

Had an Avocado Club smashchicken which comes on a wheat bun. Nicely presented however nothing spectacular. The sweet potato fries were a different story! Oh my! These morsels were so tasty I just had to break out of my comfort zone ask the server about how they were seasoned. Some words came out of his mouth but I forget them now as I relish the memory of mis papas dulces. SmashBurger has an outdoor dining area with some umbrella shade - if you don't mind looking out on busy Sunrise Avenue. The parking stalls are on the small side.

So good. Love the burgers here. But the garlic fries are too heavy on oil and garlic flavor. The chicken sandwich is really a letdown, too They should just take it off the menu - it really doesn't belong there. But the burgers - all very delish!

This was my first time getting smashed and I gotta say I have found my favorite burger place. I was really excited when the Folsom location opened because it was closer to my house. The all American with cheese is awesome, with a side of smash fries... I am still in need of trying the chicken sandwich, but as my mamma always says, don't mess menu if you are really good at one thing.. but I guess I should try the chicken before I say that ;)

After going in with some expectations since I have a friend who lives in Colorado and love smash bruger I was expecting to like it. First everything is ala-cart and is just as expensive as the Counter in Roseville. However the food at Smash is much to be desired. I ordered a BBQ Bacon and cheese burger and it came out very greasy and no real taste. The smash fries though have garlic were not that strong. I like gordon bierch 1000 times better. I also agree with Matt C. review that Smashburger is going through growing pains and might not survive in the area. Escpecially when there is about 5 burger places with walking distance. (Habit, Fudruckers, Mc Donalds, Marie Calendars, Logan's, etc) so why eat at something that is not impressive.

To be honest - this is my second time here. (So think of this more of an update.) the first time i was here - i would have given them a 4 star. The smash fries and smash sweet potato fries were so delicious before (tossed in olive oil and rosemary). This time around... it was basically flavorless. It taste like i was eatting regular fries - Big dissapointment. AND to top that off, the service size of the fries halved since the last time i was here! SAD! :( The burgers are still very delicious however. This place would rate higher if all they sold were burgers.

This burger was awesome. one of the tastiest meats ive had in my mouth for quite sometime! the bill added up quick. 14 for a half pounder mushroom swiss, smashfries, and root beer float. Overall a wonderful dining experience! For how delicious this burger was, I wouldn't mind shelling out that 10+ dollars for a mouthgasm

Smashburger, AKA Gamestop (look at the logos), cooked me a tasty basket of food when I went there last week. While I appreciate that they have a gimmick (smashing the burger), that's a completely piss-poor technique from a juiciness standpoint. Any good barbecue cook knows that high heat applications demand that you leave the meat the heck alone. Smashing the meat presses the oils further out of the meat patty, spreading it more thinly during the process. The result? Thin, dry burgers. I ordered the BBQ, bacon and onion burger, and asked for it medium-rare, so they left mine on the grill only as long as needed to make it safe. It came out fairly tasty and not dry, so I assume they're using a high fat % ground beef, 80/20 perhaps. The meat wasn't over-salted or seasoned, so I could appreciate how the burger actually tasted. The sweet potato fries were unique, and the egg bun was flaky and wrapped the whole thing together nicely. It was good, but not $10 good. I'd go back, but not if it was out of my way.

The burgers are smashed. . . Go figure! Fresh burgers, brie for my burger, sweet potato fries, good beer and homemade milk shakes... Can you say yum?! Oh and better yet never an argument when we go with the kids!

Bleh... though it was cheap and fast. I hate places with a kids menu/kid friendly and doesnt have a changing table in either bathroom! It wasnt anything extraordinary but those onion strings were pretty good, nice and crunchy. I don't think we'll be back, the Habit is across the way. I wanted to like a place with a sign like game stop. I'm totally sad it wasn't good or even felt worth the money we paid. I had the Norcal, eh... I'm not sure what kind of balsamic vinegar they use but it tasted just totally sour, like almost as if the burger meat was going bad or something. Hubs had the bbq bacon something, good bacon, good bun so he was happy. The kiddo had grilled cheese, she ate it. The tables outside are that metal mesh, so they were kind of dirty with old food stuck in the mesh, ugh... with the crappy metal baskets they serve the food in it was kinda gross. The highchairs were dirty but they usually are everywhere we go, the bathrooms were super clean but no changing tables. Maybe I should have stuck to grilled cheese or just meat and bun.

I hadn't been to SmashBurger in a while since I had first gone there a few times since their initial opening. Usually an establishment has some kinks to work out when they first open and after a year or two, things should be working smoothly. On this most recent venture to the one near my home, I was greeted at the door by the shift manager who opened the door when he saw me gazing at the menu by the door. I noticed that they had changed the menu since my last visit and I wanted to take some time and get familiar with it. He also managed to give a nice compliment about the kilt I was wearing (I'm a regular wearer of Utilikilts). I thanked him and went in where he patiently waited for my while I made my selection. I ordered the avocado chicken club instead of one of their signature burgers. ( I had stopped getting their burgers since I began to find them a bit greasier than most of the other burger joints around. But that is what you get when you use a beef with a high fat content and cook it on a flat top.) After getting my changed and another compliment on my kilt, I filled my soda and grabbed a seat. My sandwich arrived within the quoted 6 minutes along with the side order of SmashFries. The sandwich arrived open faced and nicely presented, which is such a nice touch and a rarity for a place that serves a burger! The sandwich was warm, but not hot, which I like, because I can dive right in and enjoy it without worrying about burning my mouth. It did feel a bit greasy in the mouth, but, as I mentioned earlier, cooking on a flat top like they do does mean more grease. The tomato, lettuce and avocado on the sandwich were fresh and crisp, adding a nice elements of crispness and creaminess to the sandwich. The SmashFries were flavorful and not overly greasy/oily like they had been in the past and still had that nice garlicky, herbaceous flavor that I had always liked. Any time you can eat fries without the use of ketchup, its a good thing! In the past, there had always been a nice pool of olive oil in the bottom of the fry basket. Not so this time, which probably means they've changed the recipe and cut back on the amount of oil used. I did also noticed the service had picked up a bit since I was last there, with the staff being attentive to the needs of dining customers, asking if they needed anything and keeping the tables cleared and wiped down. I think the next time I go, I'll give a burger a try and see if they've toned down the grease a bit on those.

Burger was decent but nothing to rave about. Fries were nasty. Wasn't acknowledged by Sarah at the register. She was too busy stocking the beers in front of me. I probably won't be back.

On the Plus side, they have Sweet Potato Fries. On the minus side, the fries are rather greasy due to the olive oil garnish. Another minus: YOU CANNOT ASK FOR MEDIUM RARE! wtf? I can always order a Squeeze burger the way I like it, why can't you get a Smashburger cooked to order? If its Angus Beef (as they claim on their menu), there should NOT be a problem getting a pink burger. I'm not asking for "mooing" (rare), but I'm not being unreasonable in this request for medium rare! Note that I'm not this picky at "In N' Out Burger" when I order my Double Meat with Extra Lettuce & Tomatoes ($2.39), they are already so cheap, I'm going to be OK with "medium" there. But when you're paying $5 for a hamburger, it needs to be "cooked to order", thanks!

Had the good fortune of seeing the Smashburger location in Citrus Heights recently when I was jonesing for a good burger and recently had seen a Food Network show which highlighted them so I thought..."time to check it out". Was happy I did, as both my wife and I enjoyed our burger from them. I had the NorCal burger, which has Brie, applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, balsamic marinated tomatoes, grilled onion and mayo ( I added mustard at no cost). From the first bite, I loved how well the brie and bacon worked together with the freshly cooked patty. Very flavorful. I enjoyed the smashfries with the burger, they were very good also. I read one of the other reviews that said they were just as expensive as The Counter in Roseville ...uhh, not quite. This person obviously did not do well in math. The counter is $7.95 for a 1/3 pound burger (plus $1.00 for "premium toppings" like bacon), so if you built a similar burger to the Smashburger "NorCal" at The Counter it would cost you $8.95 vs $5.99 at Smashburger with the same size patty. The sides are similarly overpriced at The Counter...$3.25 for an order of fries vs $1.99 at Smashburger. How about fried dill pickles? $4.00 at The Counter vs. $1.99 at Smashburger. Now I am not trying to "Smash" (he he he)...The Counter, it just irked me that people write things which have no basis in fact, such as prices. That reviewer has their own opinion on the taste at Smashburger and I cannot say anything negative about that because they are entitled to their opinion, but when it comes to facts (prices)...sorry, gotta call BS. Anyways, didn't mean to slam anyone, just wanted you to know that you can have a freshly prepared burger at a decent price. Enjoy!!!

Firstly, I should say that I'm not a big fan of the gargantuan burger. I like balance. I like my burgers to be not tiny but not so big that you're in a food coma afterwards. The Smashburger came in 3 sizes: 1/4 lb, 1/3 lb and 1/2 lb. Since I was sharing sweet potato fries and a milkshake, I opted for the 1/4 burger. And it sure was good! It was cooked to perfection, the applewood-smoked bacon was scrumptious, and the lightly toasted egg bun was just the perfect finishing touch. I would rate this burger better than the neighboring Fuddruckers and the new Habit. Never been a fan of the Habit's burgers anyway. For those of you familiar with the chain back East, these burgers very much remind me of Steak 'n' Shake. Compact, juicy, and flavorful. One more thing---the Dulce de Leche shake was outstanding! Not my first choice of flavors, but I was pleasantly surprised after tasting it. And I also sampled the Smash Chicken. Yum.

Shoot, I was expecting so much more after hearing so many rave reviews. My husband and I went this afternoon and had high hopes. He ordered the classic American burger with regular fries and a strawberry milkshake, and I built my own with a sourdough bun, pepper jack cheese, smash sauce, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions and pickles with sweet potato smash fries on the side. Our total was $17 and some change. My meal breakdown: Sourdough bun on my burger was stale. Burger tasted good but not WOW, just ordinary. Sweet potato fries had a nice savory flavor, however they were soggy and not cooked all the way. Husband's meal breakdown: Burger was so overdone it crunched when he bit into it. Regular french fries were also soggy. Milkshake was good, but not worth $4. Packaging complaints: They wrap your items in paper then put it in a sealed chinese food looking carton no doubt adding at least a buck or two to each order from packaging costs. Plus, they don't mark what anything is, even when you open the carton the paper isn't written on. Makes distinguishing which is which very difficult Service: The girl at the counter, Jenni was super friendly and smiled, was cheerful. NO complaints with her whatsoever. But 2 items were left out of our order so we had to go back. :( Hard to tell anything was missing since nothing is marked(see packaging complaints). Overall, we will not be returning. This place in my opinion is overrated and way too expensive for what you get.

Went here 2 times and wasn't impressed. The 1st I went there was just because I'm into trying new places, my fries were burnt and my burger had no flavor. I asked for ranch but they said they didn't have any and ranch is the only thing I like on my burgers besides lettuce and cheese. The 2nd time I went there was because there was an hour long wait at AT&T and I was starving... Same thing as before, didn't taste good.. It's also very expensive... It was $24.78 for 2 drinks, 2 classic cheese burgers and 1 fry.. My mom also went there and it was $4.18 for a medium drink and a fry which is rediculous for plain tasteless food

REALLY GOOD BURGERS!!! I fell in love as soon as I smelled the burger! I took my Dad there today for our first time, and we are happy and full! I got the Classic 1/4 lb on the Egg bun with mayo, grilled onions, american cheese and lettuce. It was so good, I got sad as I realized I was almost done! I just wanted the yummy taste to keep going, The bun was amazingly soft and flavorful, weird I know, but I like my bread to taste good to! The buger...was....so....damn.....good! Hand formed and smashed and FLAVORFUL! The crust on the buger was tasty and kept the meat juicy, and I actually tasted BEEF! There were no odd seasonings. I also got fried pickles. BOMB!!! Hot and cruchy with no heavy breading. I loved the fact that they were chips and not spears. I will be going back soon, hopefully next week! Well, since my job ends on the 29th of June, I will be there on the 30th!

Ended up here for dinner this evening since my friend lives nearby in Citrus Heights. I'm always down to try a new burger place, so we stopped in. Judging by the line and the lack of seats, this place is pretty popular. It has a hip and trendy type atmosphere with a pretty decent menu. Prices are based on the kind of burger you get and also the size (ranging from 1/4 lb to 1/2 lb). I chose the NorCal burger complete with brie, applewood smoked bacon, and balsamic marinated tomatoes. It usually comes on sourdough, but they were out tonight so I had the regular egg bun. Split an order of sweet potato fries on the side. My burger was good, but way too juicy for such a light weight bun. My hands were a mess and my bun was soggy early on. Good toppings though and a tasty burger. Thin cut sweet potato fries tossed with olive oil and rosemary were delicious. My dining companion had the BBQ, Bacon, & Cheese burger and agreed that it was good, but not spectacular. I wouldn't drive out to Citrus Heights to eat here again, but I wouldn't be opposed to it if I happened to be out there.

WOW...look at me, another BURGER JOINT review. Oh well! Tis the season I guess. It was the first day of summer so who wants to cook? Fortunately I had a few bills in my pocket so my "party of 4" and I started prowling the Sunrise corridor for a quick and easy meal. No one had yet been so Smashburger, so this is where we landed. 1st thing to tell you... Since both my 10 and 14 year old wouldn't leave this subject alone I must share it with you. Apparently the "Smashburger" logo is a spittin' image of the "Gamestop" logo. I don't know, but I trust that both my kids wouldn't steer me wrong and they were very passionate about this (apparently it bugged them immensly). That being said... I asked two patrons leaving as we entered if they were satisfied and with big smiles they both said yes. Expectations were now high. Nice simple menu on the wall, create your own burger or select from the ones they've already named. Kinda like a Carl's Jr. set-up, order then go sit down with your drink cup and your number on the table. Cashier told us the burgers would arrive in about 6-7 minutes... GREAT! Music was hip and crankin'. Place is bright and comfy. Burgers were really GOOD (very tasty, great bacon on mine) served nicely too. Fries were fair... probably wouldn't order them again. Price was reasonable... I think we spent about $22 for all four of us. Would I go back? Sure... if I'm on that side of the street and I'm not craving french fries... you bet!

The staff was friendly and helped with my order since it was my first time here. Cherry Coke was out and the manager let us know it was refilled and offered to get us a fresh beverage. Place was clean except for some window smudges and the booths were super comfortable. Food was hot, tasty, and served quickly. The fried pickles were kinda on the salty side. The only thing was that I was eating and could see two employees having a conversation upfront and one employee had her top half of her body, literally, laying across the counter. I would suggest a little more proffessionalism. Besides that, I'll probally return when I'm in the area.

I really hesitated on this review just because they had so many positive reviews, and I figured I'd needed to give this place another chance. Well... I actually really like the food & presentation here. The atmosphere is ambient, crisp and modern. The service is typically nice (but you know how young girls can be), and the food comes out relatively quickly. Not to mention tables are busted in a timely manner and the bathrooms seem to be clean most the time. So my first visit to smashburger was actually a disaster. I ordered the Spicy Baja (Pepper jack cheese, guacamole, lettuce, tomato, onion, spicy chipotle mayo and fresh jalapeños on a spicy chipotle bun.), and Sweet Potato Smashfries (Tossed with rosemary, olive oil and garlic). My meat was dry and over cooked, my tomato was too old and slimy, and there was a very limited amount of lettuce. I felt like I had eaten a value burger from Burger King (which is not supposed to be the smashburger experience) The fries were very soggy with oil and very chewy, and it just didn't taste right. I was overall disappointed with my visit. A few months later a friend wanted to meet at smashburger for lunch, so I agreed. Knowing my experience with the burger my time before, I opted out, but again ordered the french fries. I decided to give them a second change, ordered the SMASHFRIES (Tossed with rosemary, olive oil and garlic.) instead, and a Harvest Salad (A mix of fresh greens, balsamic tomatoes, raisins, dried cranberries, sunflower and pumpkin seeds and blue cheese topped with balsamic vinaigrette dressing). I was exceptionally happy with the salad I received. It was incredibly hearty, and when I got to the bottom of the bowl, I was spooning mouthfuls of a wonderful mixture containing seeds, greens, and berries. The fries this time were kind of rubbery, over cooked, and unimpressive. Additionally, my friend ordered the Classic Cobb (A mix of fresh greens, fried egg, applewood smoked bacon, tomatoes, onions, cheddar and blue cheese topped with buttermilk ranch dressing.) He first wished a boiled egg was an option. His salad, unlike mine, had little sustenance. There was a limited amount of tomatoes, bacon, onions, and cheese. It was a little confusing that I had such a fulfilling hearty salad, yet his was so under dressed. My last time (really my last time visiting too), I came with my daughter after paying my phone bill at the local AT&T. I did not want the french fries, but my 3 year old insisted --- so we got the smashfries again. We also shared a Chili Cheese Dog (100% Angus beef hot dog, cheddar cheese, onions, fresh jalapeños and chili.) and a Chocolate Milkshake. Again, the fries weren't right. They were not hot, they were not crispy, they were soggy on the inside, and chewy on the outside. The hot dog and chilli were exceptionally tasty, but the bread was so chewy and tough (possibly old) that I couldn't use the knife to cut off pieces for my kid. I actually had to tear and "smash" the bread with my fingers. The shake was good though. My real problem with smashburger is their fries, and lack of consistency. In all my visits there to eat their other tasty foods -- the fries are always depressing. I don't know if I'll come back to smashburger based on the fact I've paid for 3 meals, 3 separate times, and got 3 totally different dining experiences --- mostly ending in disappointment. If they could figure out the fries, and provide consistently good food -- I would probably frequent this joint often. They actually have good food. It's just not always its best. 3 meals and $30 later, I've finally figured it out. Fool me three times, shame on me.

Today my son and I dined at Smashburger for the 5th time. I was very impressed the 1st visit but each time it has gotten worse:( but tonight was the actual last time I will ever dine at this chain. Each time I have visited following my 1st visit it has slowly gotten dirtier, poor service, and food quality has decreased. Tonight was the final chance for me. The young gentleman that took my order was the best part of our entire experience. He took my order correct and was very pleasant. I ordered a baja burger without guacamole but add sliced avocado, the sweet potato fries, fountain drink, and my son a kids smashdog meal with a milk shake. A total of 21.10 and I think that is fair for a quality meal, but for what we got was so not worth it. I'm really relieved that I did not tip because my service was terrible from here on out. The manager was fake and did not care about his establishment. His employee Haley obviously hates her job and by her bosses tolerance of the poor attitude it seems to be the norm. I went to fill up Sprite and when I tried the soda it was without sweetness. I reported this to the manager and he said "ok". So I refilled with another drink because there was no offer of a fix. Our food came and my burger had guacamole and was SO salty. It also had sliced avocado that was brown and disgusting. My sons fries were cold and hard. My sweet potato fries were greasy and unappetizing. I never yelp but want to start to help businesses improve the overall experience. I work in customer service and would not have a small business like I do if I treated people so poorly and offered a product like I have been experiencing at Smashburger.

Eh...so so. Spend an extra buck and go to The Habit right across the street.

The burger was pretty good. It was very juicy if you'll looking for a burger like that. The smashfries tasted good, though the fries themselves were pretty generic. I don't think I'll go out of my way to go there since it's not near to where I live or work, but compared to The Habit or The Counter, I would make Smashburger my favorite of the 3 due to the taste and the price. Definitely cheaper than Counter, and I don't dislike Habit, but I've never seen the attraction the few times I've been there. If I could give half points, I'd rate it a 3.5, but I'll round up. I'd give it a solid 4 if they cut the fries themselves.

Smashburger is just the latest trendy burger joint. The food, service and atmosphere all sucked. Habbit and Nations are in the same neighborhood and offer MUCH better quality food.

The burger was de-lish. I waited less than 5 minutes and it arrived hot and made just to my exact specifications. Talk about made to order. The chocolate milkshake was tasty also, pretty standard milkshake. I would give it 5 * if the fries were not way squishy and if there was not a few tablespoons of oil in the bottom of the basket. I have definitely found my new burger joint!!! Can't wait to try the malts.

I am a burger and fries girl! And this place is just not what I hoped. Paid too much for weird tasting rosemary fries and a so so burger. I like places like Superb Burger, Willies, The Habit (which is has a better choice for kids too), or Chubby's in Roseville. Go there! Much better!!!

i really enjoy coming here, i usually get a crispy chicken sandwich, i love it but the fries on the other hand need a little work. soggy and un salted strings is what they pretty much are. the atmosphere is great its always packed. i would love to see them change up there fries since i am a fry maniac lol but over all im never disappointed

Stopped by here today and boy was it packed almost thought i was at the squeeze inn. Then i remembered i was on the wrong side of town. This was a great place to eat. 4 of us ate good for about $25.00. I loved the smash fries going to try the sweet ones next time. :) Even the kids loved it! A+

Very overpriced for a basic burger. Fries are always very oily. Been here twice with the same results. Not very satisfied. The works are friendly though.

Smash Burger could have been much better. I was a little disappointed in the taste of the Burger. I had the one with BBQ sauce and onion rings on it. The meat was lack of seasoning and the and was very very greasy. My husband did enjoy his smash Burger but agreed on the lack of seasoning. Also we got fries but the container was only half way full. The fries were greasy as well. Gets 3stars due to my husband liking his.

After hearing about the great burgers here, we tried it. Not a french fry person, I did order the sweet potato fries with rosemary and sea salt. My goodness, they were piping hot, not greasy, and easily bested the burger. My sis likes to go there so we've been a few times. The last time when I asked for extra hot fries they simply refried them (yup, I watched.) They have salads though no blue cheese for the cobb salad, and the dressing choices were humdrum. I hear their shakes are fresh and hand-scooped though we've never indulged. We'll definitely be back, and I'm no burger fanatic, so many may adore Smashburger. When they have Groupons or coupons it's definitely a great time to try.

I sooooo wanted to like this place. Got the mushroom spinach grilled cheese that had bits of burger inside (left over from a dirty grill) and was so soaked in grease it was foul. Fried pickels were under cooked and had a powdery texture to the batter. The 2 stars are for the sweet potato frys that were delish but I won't go back just for those. Sad lunch I threw most of away. Staff also gets stars... Very friendly.

I LOVVVE Smashburger. The very first time I went I wasn't feeling that great so I got the chicken strips which were AMAZING. The second time I went I decided to build my own burger so i got the 1/4 pound on the egg roll with pepper jack cheese &mushrooms &now that is what I order every time I go. Every time I crave a burger now its ALWAYS a Smashbuger. Yes it can get pricey, but I think it is definitely worth it. My dad always likes to go with me because he orders the Sunset Salad which is SOO good as well. If I ever feel like just a salad I always get a Sunset Salad to go, which is hard sometimes because I always want to just order my usual burger. All in all, this place is delicious &im happy its only a few minutes away from my house because I go here about once a week.

I got the classic burger and the harvest onion strings as a side. The burger was very good, good balance of sauce and produce, the bun was superb. The burger stayed together well with its toppings, i didnt feel like i was wearing it after. The harvest onion strings were under done, not crisp, if these were cooked more with a crisper breading i would have really liked this alternative to fries. Also only get them if you plan on eating soon or dining in, mine got cool fast. It was busy at lunch, but i went from waiting at the door to leaving with food in under 10 minutes. Plus they have a menu where you can see it every few feet so when you get to the counter you are ready to go. Lots of seating for small place with patio. Could use a seat for togo orders. Good alternative to the habit, with a bigger menu, and faster service, but just a hair behind on quality of basic burger.

To start the design of the resturant is a nightmare unless you like people standing in line right next to your table? Not too appealing to sit and eat. Now for the food. The burger is not too bad if you like mustard oozing out the sides. The onion strings were nothing but a grease pit!! Even my sons thought it was gross and don't want to go back. The milkshake was good and my son would order that again, chocolate.

My mom met me for lunch last week to check out my new office and decided she wanted to try Smashburger... and odd choice considering she's a vegetarian, but to Smashburger we went! Lucky for her they had a black bean burger which she said was phenomenal! I ordered the limited edition cobb burger which is their play on a cobb salad on a burger, yum! It had a nice, thick slice of iceberg, tomatoes, blue cheese and bacon on a patty with a delectable egg bun. I also ordered a side of rosemary garlic smashfries which were beyond delicious! You can customize your order to be the burger of your choice, but they also have a wide selection of smash burgers or chicken burgers for you to choose from as well. You order at a counter and their extremely attentive team brings the food to your table. They came by numerous times to check on our meal, to refill my glass ( even though it's self serve), and even to bring me a box without asking. Great burger, great service!

Heard about this from daughter in Denver. Had the 1/3 lb. burger...was really good. The onion straws were a bit greasy, next time I'll try the fries. I'll go again and bring a co-worker. My daughter calls this the "New Willie's" for Folsom when the SmashBurger store opens in June.

Service was so-so and it wasn't even that crowded. Burger was okay. Onion strings - bleh. Fries were okay, but a bit too heavy on the rosemary for my liking (not their fault, they were probably one of the better aspects of the meal). Presentation was nice, but I guess I was expecting more. I wasn't blown away or even moderately pleased. I so wanted to love this place. :-( I think in this type of place, with an empty lot on a Friday ... this place could be in trouble. - I'm so mad at myself telling my hubs we were going here instead of Fuddruckers or whatever that place is across the street. Oh well ... live and learn.

Service was great... Food was pretty good. I tried the smash burger and smash fries during my visit and I have to say the food was pretty good. The quality and service was phenomenal but I didn't see anything great about the burger. The burger just tasted like a regular burger that was done very well. They do give you quality ingredients and great sides so that's where they shine. The smash fries were very very good. Thin cut and not too oily. Prices are a bit steep so I won't be coming back here too often unless they offe a discount when purchasing a whole meal.

I got a grilled cheese and the cheese wasn't even melted. Granted, they grilled the thick bread on both sides, but it defeats the purpose of getting a grilled cheese if it just tastes like a cheese sandwich.

I usually don't leave a review for a "fast food" "chain" restaurant but I had to go ahead and bust the rule anyway. My wife and I enjoy a good smash once in a while. Her, the smashchicken. Me of course the smashburger. They are always good. Oh, and she loves the deep fried pickles too. But good is good. And hey, there's nothing wrong with good in the messed up burgerking mcdonalds world. Well today I tried the Sin City. I didn't order any sides as it comes on the burger. Bacon, grilled onion, cheese, haystack onions and fried egg. One word? Nice. 4 stars for the Sin City.

Good enough. Three reviews in, and I think what there is to say has already been said. The menu is a little more diverse than its closest conceptual -- and geographic -- competitor, The Habit. They offer fried pickles, fried sweet potatoes, and a couple other relatively unique items. It's fresh, not fast. It's decent, but not excellent. After the novelty wears off, I think the Habit will have it.

Took my boys here yesterday for lunch. I only had a few of the onion strings which were good. Boys enjoyed their burgers but with the exception of the hamburger buns didn't feel they were exceptional. Head up on their special sauce, it has horseradish in it, which I don't like, but the boys ate it up.

I've ate at Smashburer a couple times. I really like the Spicy Baja smashchicken sandwich with the fresh jalapeños; even though the jalapeños didn't seem so fresh during my last visit. The peppers were kind of shriveled up like they had been cut up the day before. The chipotle mayo adds a great kick to the sandwich as well. Their fries are okay. Another plus is that they have Cherry Coke, which is not very easy to find at restaurants.

Yea, I will eat Smashburger anytime and anywhere. It has me craving one of their super juicy burgers at all times of the day. I looked at my previous "Four-star" review and realized that this place is truly, THE BEST BURGER in the Sacramento Area. Try it. The chicken is surprisingly good as well, and their new Oreo milkshakes are heaven in a cup. The salads are also very good. I have also found that the burgers go down so fast, that I have to now build my own with a 1/2 pound patty, and I have to add another 1/2 pound patty. Maybe they should get bigger buns, but who cares, they are the BEST.

Spicy Baja Burger and Smash Fries are out of this world. Last time we couldn't decide between the nutterbutter or dulche de leche milkshakes. The cashier suggested we combine them. It was heavenly!

Great Burger. Go Large on the burger and the thick meat patty hangs off the bun. Quality condiments to go with fresh beet patty. Good dip sauce. I will be back for more Smashburger!

We all like burgers a different way; but smash burgers just ooze grease and drippings and as other reviewers mentioned, they don't taste like much. Dress carefully. Savor the toppings, that is what you will remember. We ordered Haystack Onions and they were limp, greasy, and oddly cut. Sat outdoors and the wire tables had old bits of food caught in them, the chairs were not clean, and everything is too close together. We went...and now we know...Counter is our particular favorite. Try them all and decide for yourself!

Awesome awesome burger!! I am a huge fan of Habit, and In N Out, but this place is BOMB! My fiancé tried it a few weeks ago, and told me we had to go. So tonight we went with two of our guy friends, and we all agreed best burger ever! I love the different sizes, the 1/4 pound was perfect for me, while the 1/2 pound filled the 3 guys up! We all got the classic and I added grilles onions. It was a bit messy to eat, but aren't good burgers suppose to be that way?! I also got the smash fries, which I wasn't a huge fan of, next time I'll try the sweet potato fries though!

I was really cautious when I went there, because I didn't want to get my hopes up about eating a great burger after reading the reviews on Yelp. Because that has happened before and it ended up with me being very disappointed. I mustered up the courage to try this place after a friend told me it was "really good and you'll love it!" I ordered a Mushroom Swiss with a side of ranch and one order of smashfries.....after looking over the menu and couldn't decide what to get. The girl working the register suggested it and said it was quite popular. Okay, so what the heck? When the burger came out, I noticed that it was not on regular burger buns, but on softer, sandwich-type buns....and not toasted. In my opinion, if it's not toasted, I'd probably won't like it. It was too soft for my taste. It did not feel like I was eating a burger, but more of a heavy sandwich with a third pounder piece of meat. The swiss cheese was melted half way, which is also a no-no, because I don't want half melted cheese stuck to my teeth as I'm eating it. The only great part of the meal was the fries. That's about it. I highly doubt I will return on my own. If it's on someone else's tab, then sure! =)

my friend hyped me up about this place but when i went, it was nothing special. The fries were overcooked and hard, and the milkshake had wayyyy to much cream and tasted odd. def not my place of choice. i have 2 stars because i didnt try the burgers but my friend liked hers sooo yeah

Deeeelish! The burgers are flavorful and the buns are delectable. I especially love all the choices of sides. The chili is grand, but my absolute favorite is the sweet potato smash fries. I could eat there for lunch every day... I usually make it there at least a couple times a month. Beats out The Habit any day of the week!

It was my first time to try Smashburger. I must say, it was a lot better than I expected. I had the mushroom swiss with the sweet potato smash fries with the dulce de leche shake and my friend ordered the Baja burger with regular smash fries and soda. I was not blown away by the baja burger. But the mushroom swiss is one of the best I have had from a fast food joint. The burger was beefy, juicy and not overcooked. The smashfries are a must.. Regular or sweet potato.. Both are great.. Although I am partial to the sweet potato.. The shake was good. It was not overly sweet. It complements the smashfries very well. I will be back for more!

I am a new fan of Smashburger! The food was nicely priced and wonderfully yummy! They have an upbeat soundtrack, but it's not played so loudly as to make conversation difficult. The seating is cozy, but comfortable and the staff was very friendly. We will be back here again!!!

  • Suzanne P.

I've been there three times for the fries, but everytime the staff has be surly at best. The staff can't squeek a smile out if their life depended on it. They look like they hate their jobs. Unfortunately, I won't be going back.

I read a post about Smashburger on sacfoodies.com and thought I'd check the place out. I ordered the spicy baja smashchicken and fries. The husband got the same thing with the smashfries. The spicy baja was really flavorful. When we first received our smashchickens we noticed that they were missing the fresh jalapenoes that were supposed to come with the spicy baja. We asked for fresh jalapenoes on the burgers and the staff apologized and brought out our chicken sandwiches. Both the smashfries and the regular fries were good, but the smashfires had more of a rosemary flavor than a garlic flavor. We agreed that next time we go to Smashburger (and there will be a next time :) we will order the plain fries instead of the smashfries. Overall the experience was pretty good. We're excited for the one in Folsom to open!

I've been here twice and so far I'm impressed. Yummy yummy stuff here. Anywhere I can get sweet potato fries I'm a fan. The first time I went I got the Classic Smashburger and it was big and juicy and even though my belly hurt a little bit after, I ate that whole damn thing! And the sweet tater fries were seasoned with rosemary. That's new! While they weren't the best, I give them kudos for making the effort. Then I took an extra long look at the menu before leaving. They've got a grilled cheese!?!?!?! Yeah. Anyone who knows me knows that cheese + bread = crazy nikki. Second time I went there, I got that effin' grilled cheese. I pretty much turned into the cookoo for cocoa puffs bird. Lemme let you in on a secret... I could have cried, it was utter perfection. Thick slices of bread, georgeous golden brown outer shell, ooey-gooey center that looked like a friggin Kraft singles commercial x 100. And then I tasted it and I was a little embarrassed because I was with everyone that I work with and I had an orgasm in my mouth. It tasted just the same as it looked. I didn't even care about the damn fries that came with it I just wanted more of the sandwich. I took off one star because while my mouth was planning on marrying that grilled cheese, she wanted her wasted money back for that strawberry shake. Not what I expected for $3.99 and Häagen-Dazs. My mouth was watering when the shake arrived with the beloved tin cup of extra shake that I love. Then I tasted it.... It was like they used vanilla ice cream and added artificial strawberry flavor and watered it down. Judge me if you want I know I'm cheap but when I order a $4 shake I expect it thick and I'm thinking there ought to be at least a couple chunks of real strawberry. Especially if its Häagen-Dazs! They put real strawberries in the ice cream. And I'm thinking if you're gonna use the Häagen-Dazs name, make it worth it. Smash almost gets that star back for having FRIED PICKLES. Again, if you know me, you know pickles are another obsession. I just couldn't give it back, that shake shook my heart too hard.

Smashburger is one of the better "gourmet burger" places in town. Right up there with The Habit and The Counter. :)

A decent upgrade from fast food. The fries were seasoned with rosemary, garlic, and olive oil. Nice touch. Burger was comparable to the Habit, but more variety. I had brie, bacon, and grilled onions. All in all good. I will come back
